All of my friends and I love the series and that game. I don't think I've found anyone which do not like it. The only thing anyone ever expresses they didn't like about it was that it was not on PS2 nor Xbox, since no one else was willing to get a Dreamcast and was waiting on PS2 and Xbox.

Only played the first one, I want to get this version. I don't think is underrated is that many people haven't play it. Most of the people that have try it almost always have positive comments about it.

The movement and controls were fast and fluid AND it still felt like you were a huge mech just fucking around. Never understood why this game didn't get better reviews. Then again I am wearing about 9 pairs of nostalgia goggles with this game.

How the HECK do I emulate Virtual On? Every other Dreamcast game I like works fine, but that one game just crashes on boot

I think Tyokou Senki Kikaioo uses the same engine as Rival Schools. If you don't mind losing the school setting, it is pretty nice too. The designs of each mech were done by different designers to reflect different mech/robot shows. For example, the Macross-like robot in the game was designed by the same person who did the mecha designs for Omega Boost!

Yeah, so many stories of getting friends an people from across the hall all coming in to play Goldeneye to a skill level where everyone is purposely staring at walls to not give away their location to the other players next to you. Creating RAM drives across the network housing all the games (and maybe viruses) that everyone can find, but not the administrators. Going to the arcades, Lazer Tag at midnight, calling in friends from all around settling the rides/transportation, visiting local dumps for the bands. It was amazing.

i played it last night and didn't do that at all! finishing a book right now and then i'll complete the game - it's more challenging than i expected (although by no means a hard game) and i was far too lazy last night haha.
seems like this game was a major influence on the more recent game riddled corpses and possibly other "twin stick shooters"

No game about tanks is realistic if you ever served, but they are pretty entertaining because of the simplicity.

I recommend the "Bis" sequel.

might check out 超鋼戦紀キカイオー, i love street fighter (i know, i'm a pleb), and how derivative of sf rival schools is makes me know i'll like it. the graphics seem kind of childish, if i were still a little boy in the late 90s it'd probably seem cool to me though (my first introduction to mech was escaflowne though, i never f*cked w/ gundam). i fucked up with redream though because on the upload screen it won't extend past 10 folders to upload (should have put them all in one folder?), for some reason. so i can only upload 10 games at a time. but i will probably download and upload it and replace another game
