I was a huge EQ fan in the late 90s despite having a shit PC at the time and a 56k connection. Actually had a friend I used to play with whose parents ended up taking his PC away and sent him to therapy for how much he played this game. He probably played it for 100 hours a week for a several months. There's a reason they called it Evercrack.

Doesn't p1999 actually use the original client? I thought it used the updated client in which case I'm pretty sure there are in-game maps that you can download. At least there were back in 2000.

Still, I'd say the best way to play Everquest is either without a map at all or with eqatlas maps on a second screen. (I think I actually had fucking printouts with annotations back in the day)

I played it in the early 2000s. And honestly no. It's shit. It's tedious and wastes your time. If you like sitting around and camping spawns for hours at a time while you wonder where your life went wrong then its great.
