I've been waiting for the last rooms to be made but there's been no progress on them, so I might just make the rooms myself if nobody shows interest soon.
Also, I fixed the game so that you have to be on a ladder to transition upwards, so rooms where you jump near the ceiling aren't as terrible.

We still need some music, people were working on that in the last thread. Also a titlescreen, and maybe some death sounds. I encourage as many people as possible to record some kind of death phrase, I can probably fit a lot of them in.
This project will be finished in some "playable" form, just a matter of how much extra we want to put in after the rooms are done.

Cool thanks dude, I just gave it a quick try and it seems to work well. Attribute clash between zniggy and the ground is basically fixed too versus the last build I tried. It's still possible to temporarily znigg off the top of the screen e.g. top left of Rave Ocean, but you don't actually change rooms anymore so whatever, that and the brief attribute flash when zniggy lands are both "features".

Slightly more documentation would probably help? I looked at ZniggED briefly, and it wasn't clear to me how to get it to reuse existing tiles from the tilemap as we apparently need to now.

I'd also be interested to know what you think of the idea (which I posted a few threads back but I seriously doubt it was an original thought) of adapting MM / JSW's jumping and falling sound effect code from the disassemblies out there? I'm not a spectrum coder and only have some limited familiarity with x86 asm so maybe this is harder than I think for some reason, but it seems like it ought to be possible.

Cool, another thing is that I don't know how the images output by ZniggED end up encoded as actual room data in Data.asm. If this part relies on a super-sekrit tool that only Tamamoball has, that's not exactly conducive to playtesting. Also as you can see from those defs or just playing the game most rooms currently lack monsters, which will need to be addressed at some point.

The final rooms are in, so we're in the final stretch. Just a few more things we need:
A nice design for the status bar
Title screen, we can use the design from the previous thread
Some 1-2 second deaths sounds/phrases, the more people who contribute the better
Title screen music, I'll need it transcribed to be able to put it in game.

As for myself, first thing I have planned is to compress the room data further, then add in all the enemies that are missing in the rooms. After that, I'll fix the movement controls, add in whatever is missing and we should be ready to playtest and release.
