Quackshot doesn't get enough credit. People always talk about the Mickey games, but Quackshot was a lot more elaborated. A true adventure game with lots of fun set pieces, comfy ass graphics and music and a challenging difficulty.

my absolute nigga!
I heard the Super Famicom version is actually better (has more levels and 2 player co-op), but I grew up with the Sega version and that's the one I love.
The soundtrack is basically the audible manifestation of nostalgia for me.

The arcade beat 'em up is also good, as are the fighting games, RPGs and puzzle games on Super Famicom.

When is the last time you played it? I had it growing up and remember loving but after picking it back up to show my kid my nostalgia wore off pretty quick. Being able to play as the Raptor will never not be cool tho.

Dude, whenever Tuxedo Mask appeared I was like:"Life heal and time to kick ass" actually I grew up with it, too.
Back in '99 it was a present of my parents to my sister (I got Dragon Ball Z Buyuu Retsuden) and while neither of us could understand shit, we loved playing with them.
Never played the Sailor Moon when I was with them at first, because:"Ew, girl's game!" but after I played it a bit I fell in love instantly, a great brawler with great music and nice animations. I enjoyed it a fair bit.
Years later on my PSP I downloaded the rom and a cousin of mine told me:"A girl's game? I dunno senpai sounds kinda gay"
"Shut yo ass, this game is fucking great"
And to this day, I recommend this game and the arcade ones if anyone asks something to play.
>>5870210
I agree, it has a great atmosphere, hell, the Transylvania level was pretty spooky for my infantile mind back in the day, I'm okay with Fantasia on the Genesis, but that game was retardedly hard at some points, Quackshot on the other hand had a learning curve, and this is without taking in account the gorgeous graphics that wouldn't look out of place in a Don Rosa comic.

It's why I bought a PlayStation Mouse. It's great with that, though controller is fine if you adjust the deadzone and play on easy/normal.

It's pretty fucking good and ambitious as all fuck. It's quite open-ended and the entire schtick of that game is that some events and puzzles are randomized, so there is a shitton of replayability. This major NPC you pinpointed as a replicant in one playthrough doesn't have to be one in the next, which changes the story significantly. And there is more than one way to solve the puzzle, depending on how much info you've gathered on the case.
The game kinda falls apart in the end, when it's clear that they have ran out of money and are desperate to wrap it all up, but up to that point, it's a fun ride. I'd recommend it.

It's unironically one of the best adventure games of all times.
Aside what the other anon mentioned, there is one more thing to it: it has a time running inside. The world isn't static, just waiting for your interactions and the plot can (and often does) result from the fact you can't be in two places at once.
Really nice game.

>>5870317
I remember how great it felt learning the ropes myself in Quackshot. One of the few games back in the day that really expected from you to learn and adjust, rather than just dump you into itself.

>Never played the Sailor Moon when I was with them at first, because:"Ew, girl's game!"
Hahaha, similar for me and I think for most boys. I remember seeing the Sailor Moon game box sitting in some video game store (it was a bootleg, then again, 99% of Genesis games were bootlegs here), the cover was in Japanese, so I couldn't read "Sailor Moon" (even though I think it included a small english "pretty soldier sailor moon" subtitle, not sure if in the box, but it's on the cart). I just remember looking at the girls and being puzzled, I think it was probably the first time I saw "bishoujo" kind of anime girls, the first time I saw those types of eyes and stuff. I can't say if I was attracted or repulsed, really, it was a weird feeling. Kinda like when you're a little kid, see a girl you like, but your initial reaction is to reject her because "ew girls are stupid", something like that. So whatever I just bought Mortal Kombat or whatever other game and went on with my life. Then some time later, the TV series started running. Initially I didn't make the connection with that game I saw before, I started watching the first episode, I'm pretty sure the opening caught my attention (it's such a good opening). Then it started and I couldn't stop hating Usagi. She was the kind of silly girl I'd hate to be around with. But... I kept watching. I remember making fun of my female cousins and mocking Usagi while they watched it, but secretly I was watching and liking it too. By the time Mars joined I was fucking hooked. I remember being with my best pal and we were like "yeah, you know sailor moon too? haha, it's such a stupid show", but we kept talking about it. I don't think we admitted to like it until the series ended. Then I finally got the Genesis game. And it was like, it all went full circle. Ami was my waifu.

You shouldn't be OK with that literal kusoge, though. It was a really bad game, it was made by some buckos hired by Sega of Australia, it was definitely not on par with the quality to the Sega of Japan games (Castle of Illusion, Quackshot, World of Illusion), not even close.
Quackshot has an amazing design, it's the perfect "babby's first adventure game". It was the first game I played where you had to backtrack and use different items to solve puzzles or make progress. I remember beating it and feeling really proud of myself. In fact I think it's not even too easy, I tried replaying it a few years back and while most of the stuff I struggled with as a kid are easier now (for one, I can finally read what the characters are saying, since I'm ESL), there's some hard levels later on like the viking ship or the antartica level.
My favorites are still Duckburg and Transylvania.
Dat music too. Really it's one of the greats of the Genesis.

>The Mask on SNES, the recent James and Mike video did it no justice, they were just bad at it
I think they were fair. They said the game looks nice and has fun stuff that lives up to the movie and character, but the level design is flawed and it's true. I had the game as a kid and got bored of wandering around rooms to find the exit of the level. Also while gameplay is far from bad (I like that it has taz-mania twisting move and the sledgehammer), it still has the typical problem with many western action games, besides the maze level design, that is the lousy hitboxes.
Still, not an outright bad game, but the critique about level design is valid.

Capom did great licensed games: UN. Squadron (either arcade or snes),Willow, Cadillac & Dinosaurs, Marvel Superheroes, Dungeons & Dragons, Punisher, etc.

Konami beat 'em ups (Simpsons, TMNT, Batman Returns, Aliens, etc), Konami Tiny Toons games (MD, Snes, Game Boy...) and The Grinch for GB by Konami too.
