Bloody hell, you've just been done up like a kipper for a crime you didn't commit, and now you're off to the slammer for 30 years of porridge at Her Majesty's pleasure.

You're allowed to take in ONE retro console and only THREE games to keep away the boredom for the next 30 years. What is your pick?

Put some thought into it because thirty years is a fucking long time and choosing weak shit like JRPGs that have no difficulty levels or branching paths is basically like throwing a choice away.

PS2 Console
Gradius V for unlimited difficulty potential.
Gran Turismo 4 for unlimited personal record conquering potential.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence for personal motivation and for a positive role model.

The only console game I've found that has infinite replayability is Road Rash 2. I really can't think of another so I guess I'd also bring Road Rash 1 and 3 for variety.. Genesis obviously

RR2 is great, but the game cannot be completed sadly. It glitches out once you beat the final tier. I wonder why that happens.

No 3 games would hold up to 30 years of scrutiny, but I suppose I'd want to maximize length and replayability.

I think I'd go with a PSX creation suite centered catalogue, like RPG maker, Dezaemon plus (Shmup creator) and maybe Fighter Maker (though i'm sure this'd get pretty tedious)

Corking thread, OP. For my stretch, it'd be my Dreamcast, with
- Alpha 3, loads of replay value and in 30 years I might actually get good at it
- Shenmue, so I can experience something like life outside nick
- Powerstone 2, hold comfy tourneys in my cell, making myself valuable and hopefully thereby avoiding the shank

I'd get the missus to smuggle in a few extra controllers in a steak & kidney, & Project Justice to impress the parole board.

You definitely don't want an RPG in a situation like this. With relative focus you can complete any JRPG in the world in a couple of weeks, maybe stretching that out to a couple of months if you're going for fullcomp in some insane game. You would run out of fun LONG before thirty years is up. If you go for an RPG, go for something like Nethack with insane replayability and solid core gameplay.

Personally I think I would go for games with an enormous skill ceiling like MMX and get replayability out of trying to speedrun them.

Hmmmmmmmmm my Wii with Namco Classics, the Zelda Collection, and Rebel Strike. All the ROMs on board it don't count as my 3 physical games too.

Or if not retro enough, an NES (that's been capped) with a cart that has all the games on it. I don't trust a clone nes to last 30 years, but a recapped and well cared for original might last. Also need 2nd controller for codes and cheats.

But if forced to take a retro console and no Everdrive or the like, I'd take an N64 with Ocarina of Time (that game has lots of possibilities to exhaust and it's open world would be welcome to a prisoner), Shadows of the Empire (getting that perfected would take ages) , and Turok Dinosaur Hunter.

Plus Ocarina has mini games.

fookin hell

30 years is too much, but... I would choose a 10/10 game, open world shit and a fighter.

So:

PS3:
Demon's Souls
Oblivion
Soul CALABAR 2 Prepare to WHY Edition

Your plan falls flat because the wires have a dongle and it would undo itself.
