Having less input lag than real hardware doesn't sound like a good thing. The game was designed with the hardware lag in mind, wouldn't it make the game feel weird to have less lag than the developers planned for?

Everything has some amount of lag, it's unavoidable. It takes time for the signal to go from the controller to the processor to the TV to your eyes for you to then react. It might not be much time, but it does take time. It's just fucking physics, man.

There is noticeable input lag on lcd/led TVs, what are you talking about? It's a few frames too. Nearly every new game has input buffering which makes it seem smooth while it isn't. That emulation technique only reduces the input lag by ONE frame while TVs add much more frames than that (depends entirely on the TV and if it has a gaming mode but it still adds much more than one frame on every TV).

Let me try what to put what that guy is talking about into something understandable.

Basically theres 2 types of video, Analog and Digital. What all modern TVs use is digital. Now Digital TVs can display analog video sources(Red Green Yellow cables or coaxil) but first they have to convert that signal to digital and doing that takes time as most scalers in TVs are relatively cheap thus you usually get lag of a few frames. This can be disorientation in action games as you can feel the delay. CRTs however are usually analog(except for the big made in like 2006 that are widescreen and have a hdmi port) and since they do analog natively they display the picture instantanious(where you can percive the processing time as everything even computer compute cycles takes time)

tl:dr
Digital TVs(Modern) gotta process old signal thus lag
Old TVs(Mostly CRTs) dont have to process old signal thus no lag

As for digital consoles on digital tvs there isnt any more lag than on a old console on a old tv, not anymore thats percevable(unless it isnt the max res of the tv/monitor though that might only apply to older flat ones).

Stop repeating what you read online, hook up a console (if you even own one) to your lcd/led, turn on game mode, no noticeable input lag. A long time ago, maybe ~15 years ago, my sony lcd had input lag, even in game mode. That was the only single tv I used that had practical input lag.

>> No.5820462

>>5820427
But there still is noticeable input lag, try using some reaction test on a non-laggy monitor and a TV
I've looked for TVs with little input lag when I purchased mine and I'm happy with it overall, there's still lag tho
I use my Switch on different TVs and the lag among different TVs is noticeable for me, could only test out retro consoles with a low latency monitor vs my TV since I don't have the room for a CTR sadly, the lag is still noticeable
Of course it doesn't matter when I boot up RPGs or other chill genres but when I pop some racing game in there's still a difference

The only frame lag it can reduce is the kind that's present in the actual game, such as SMW's 2 frame lag. It can't reduce lag caused by your computer, your TV or your controller.

As much as i emulate things these days. You are 100% correct. That is how games were played, that is how they are authentically experienced.
