Did you know that Resident Evil had a free comic to promote the game in America that was produced by Marvel? The most notable thing about it, is that the cover for the comic was used as the final cover in the NA version of the game.

That is actually Richard (the guy who gets bit by the snake) on the cover.

It's not just that one, there are other bad tracks like Wesker in the guardhouse. I do like some Dual Shock edition tracks though (entering guardhouse, mansion 1st floor, save theme, Rebecca theme, etc)

This new Arrange mode is RADICAL. Definitely puts emphasis on the "survival" of survival horror. Your ammo conservation not only affects your preparedness for encounters, but makes an impact on routing. New enemy placements make complete roadblocks (like literally--shoulder-to-shoulder) if you haven't done a good job rationing. The new progression sequence appropriately frontloads a lot of the cutscene interruptions so the situation never feels tiresome or leaves you feeling aimless while you're getting acclimated to the new sequence. Oh...but no saves. At least that I could find. My ass got chomped to death at the second Yawn encounter; yet nonetheless, I'm still hungry to give it another whirl.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the only key you get is Shield before you leave the mansion, in Arrange. The Yawn fight takes place before you even have access to the room with serum, so uh, just don't get bit I guess? But like I said, I'm playing what's supposed to be the regular game. That is not Deranged Mode. This is the normal Director's Cut with the minor changes they included from other versions. I chronicled part of this somewhere above, where getting the lighter and returning to the dark room just beyond Richard instantly warps you to the shed outside the mansion. A byproduct of this is that apparently the real door is never properly considered unlocked. Thinking about it later, I realized I can probably go back and use that same door to appear right past the gate. But it's still pretty annoying.

Wow. WOW. Hunters are nerfed to HELL in the rereleases compared to the PSX original. Hard enough not having auto aim, but they take two acid rounds instead of one and one wrong move: get fucking instakilled bruh. (might have had this in DC too, but auto-aim+instakills keep it from ever coming up.) Hot damn. Definitely the version people should turn to if they want the authentic experience. Ammo-wise, there's no reason not to blow everything away and have plenty to spare, but having to manual aim makes for a drastic change and it's clear the difficulty curve was balanced with this in mind, given the hunters' erratic patterns.
