What do you guys thinks about collab parks without spots?
Have any landscape you want to share/start a new game in?

-/v/+/vg/+/vr/ scenarios, rides and save files-
I'm browsing archived RCT threads for scenarios, rides and save files made by fellow anons.
Like I said in an old thread, I'll put them all in their respective RARs. So, if you have any you want to share,
now would be a good time do to so. So far I've only got a few.

Here's a pic of the roller coaster with the spiral lift hill. I'll straighten it out real quick.

By the way, if you're going to use compact wooden coasters to jew guests, don't do loops. There's no point in needlessly raising the cost of the ride just for a few points of excitement if they were going to love it anyway.

You gotta remember the idea with speed mapping is usually to push out an idea you had as fast as possible, with or without detail, so it's alright if it's not the prettiest thing.

Another idea would be to just do as much as you possibly can in 30 minutes, and then pass it off to the next person, whether or not you're finished. They can try to finish anything you didn't, or they can make their own thing. At the end it'd be funny to see which rides got completed and which didn't, and how the finished ones compared to the original builder's idea.

I guess that's the problem, isn't it? I don't even enjoy scenarios that much anymore because I usually end up spending half the time on scenery and then find I lose the scenario...

I think a good idea would be giving each person one year. You have to save and send the park on the first of March of the year after you received it. Obviously, no borders/areas, so maybe your coaster's done but your station is half finished, and it's up to the next person to finish it up.

The idea is that the only land you own is the ship, so you have to be really compact with your building and/or venture to the lower decks (underground).

Don't know how many people it should be yet though, either 500 or 1000 though. Also unsure as to what I can do with the sail. Would appreciate suggestions on both.

Phew. I'll leave it at that. The ratings aren't amazing (for quadruple-synced coasters anyway) but the limited space was problematic.

Sending it on now.

>> No.591706

A few tips for pathing:
-Handymen need small areas. Depending on the convolutedness of your paths and number of junctions, 3-6 of the blue squares at most.
-Give a handyman a small area (2-3 squares) around the exit of a high nausea ride.
-A single mechanics should have only 3-4 rides assigned to him. If you have the money (and in these collaborative parks, we definitely, definitely do), either give one mechanics 2 nearby rides or, if your rides are spaced out, you can hire 2-3 mechanics and tell them all to patrol all your rides.

Here are mistakes I've commonly seen:
-Hiring a bunch of handymen/mechanics and just placing them without pathing. Once the park gets big, they may never find their way back to that vomit-covered coaster exit.
-Hiring one handyman and assigning him the entire 25x25 area as a zone. Better but almost as useless. Depending on your path layout, certain areas may get absolutely filthy.
-Hiring a bunch of handymen and assigning them the entire 25x25 area as a zone. Again, better but almost as useless for the same reasons.
-Assigning one or more mechanics to the entire 25x25 area. Mechanics have no business walking in areas without rides, it just means they'll take longer to get to broken rides. If you want them assigned to more than one ride, highlight a path that links all the exits, and nothing more.

cont....

>> No.591713

>>591706

-Hiring mechanics without zones. Having a few spare handymen running around the entire park can't hurt, but with mechanics it's a problem. Let's say mechanic A is assigned to Ride X and Ride Y, and currently inspecting Ride X. Mechanic B is free roaming and at the other end of the park. Suddenly, Ride Y breaks down. It will now call Mechanic B, since he is the only currently available mechanic allowed to access the ride. By the time Mechanic B has made his way all the way across the park (or worse, he gets stuck somewhere, bouncing back and forth along a path and never reaching the ride), Mechanic A has finished inspecting Ride X and could have fixed Ride Y 20 times over.

Also, some general things I've noticed:

-Half the people in these parks don't use block brakes. I'm really not sure why. They're the best thing ever and every coaster (at least ones that use trains instead of a lot of single cars) should use them to allow for more trains and, more importantly, prevent crashes.
-Some areas have no bins. Bins are important, especially if your handymen aren't on the ball.
-A couple of areas didn't even have benches! Benches are even more important, if guests can't sit they get tired, and then they leave unhappy.
-I recommend setting inspection times for rollercoasters to 10 minutes. If you have enough mechanics assigned correctly, there's really no reason why not.

Tip:
Rapids work best at the bottom of a slide. The faster uou go over these, the higher the excitement.
Figure out which way the whirlpool spins the rafts and place appropriate turns. The more it spins, the higher the excitement.
Waterfalls are better than straight pieces but take up 15ft of room compared to the usual 10ft. If you're making a compact design, replace these with rapids where appropriate.

You should never have the use straight pieces at all and a lot of the excitement from river rapids comes from it's length, not it's speed.

>> No.599723

No, most (closed circuit) coasters only crash if two trains hit each other. The exceptions being things like bobsleds and side-friction coasters that can fly off the tracks.

Station brakes failure means the train doesn't slow down upon entering the station, so if there's already a train standing there ... boom. Which is particularly evil because, due to the breakdown, there's no chance of the train leaving the station, it's held there just so that the next train will absolutely definitely crash into it.

The borderless park is a little slow atm due to finals that are happening, I'd imagine that's why all the parks are being a bit slow currently.

Still though, do you have any good pictures of parks or whatever you've done? Keep in mind that borderless is entirely form over function, so expect to have to put a full day's worth of effort into a single part.

If you go with a 75x75 map like we did then expect it to take about 8 to 12 parts to do, divided by the number of members you have for the project (don't go above 4), so you each get 6 to 2 turns at it, depending on how many members you get and how much space each of you ends up taking.

You would have to settle on a theme beforehand so you can setup a park area to have all custom scenery backing up that one overarching theme, then hold tryouts to apply for it, invite only style for those willing to put the time and effort into it, who like the theme idea and who do good work.

Just thinking allowed here, but it might be fun if the creator of the next thread picks out a decent, fun and balanced custom scenario or otherwise to act as the 'thread's scenario'. The reason I thought it might be fun is pretty much two fold; firstly, it's always fun to compare finished scenarios with other anons and secondly it gives map builders a bit of motivation to make some enjoyable maps. It also leads to good discussion about how to best utilize maps.

Hello.

I want to go full-on autism and make huge complex map with every square decorated. But, cause I tried to do this once I stumble upon a serious problem - buildings are going "old" and tend to go shitfuck after a certain period of time. So my question is:

Is there a mod to make all builds stay at 100% "hp", per say? So it wont get old. I dunno how to say it in other words, cuz im no english language expert.

I have a really nasty problem right now. When building the map and trying to rise landscape - it just rises 1 square (with 1-square brush) no matter how high or low I go. It should, if I remember correctly, take nearest squares with the pulled one. So if you rise 1 square very high you get A HILL, and not a fucking COLUMN.

How to fix that? :c
