This is without overclocking or the optimal settings. Damn, the Pi haters here just got BTFO.

>> No.5767189

Well, Reicast is specially optimized for that kind of smartphone processor. The emulator was previously known as nullDC which could run on 2Ghz Core 2 Duos from 2003

So it's still shit? And who knows what sacrifices had to be made to get that number.

You can get a dreamcast and a stack of cds for less than the pi4. Go pack and shill at reddit please.

Good, now what about Saturn?

to be fair, I did play Ikaruga on a Pentium M laptop from 2003 or so in nullDC
couldn't get much else to run at full speed and I think I had to disable polygon sorting for that or some shit, but it worked
by the time I had a Core 2 based machine, much of the machine's library worked fine, some shit still had issues

>You can get a dreamcast and a stack of cds for less than the pi4.
not OP, and getting a Pi specifically for emulation is retarded, but my DC isn't reading discs properly anymore
getting one of the disc emulator replacements is expensive as shit too
could just get another DC, but I suspect I'd have the same issue again after some time

>>5767209
this isn't some optimized build, this is just someone seeing if the emulator worked

What could you possible want to play on that piece of shit system? If you're that autistic go buy a real one.

I didn't realize Dreamcasts could play PS1, N64, SNES, Genesis games etc.

PS1, yep it's the only way I played LSD
N64, not that I'm aware of
Snes, but only a few at full speed
Genesis, tell the smash pack team "thanks"

Shit, that's ALMOST as good as what my mini itx PC could do 15 years ago.

In 2003 you had Athlon XP and Pentium 4 which were both very capable regarding emulation, from 2004 you had the Athlon 64 which could max out pretty much every emulator minus the PS2, which didn't even have decent emus until 2005-6 when PCSX2 added dual core support. By that time you could get an Athlon 64 X2 and a Radeon x1950 Pro which maxed out PCSX2 too (with 1280x1024 rendering and 16x aniso filtering).

I still have that old socket 939 box in the closet. Upgraded it so many times during the Athlon XP heydays. I think it started with one of those 1.5GHz very first Athlon XP models, then the 2800+ ones, then an Athlon 64 3200+ then the X2 which was the same thing but with two cores. And I kept cycling the passive heatsink videocards until I eventually splurged for the X1950 Pro which was super cheap and just so insanely powerful.
