Man, Puyo Puyo is not an exciting game to watch someone else play.

I think the episodes I enjoy the most are puzzle hybrid games like Lemmings and Super Gussun Oyoyo where you guide characters around. The second best are adventure platformers like Prince of Persia and Flashback.

I've seen this post a million times but never got to watch it until now. Having seen an episode... I'm still trying to wrap my head around the appeal of this show. Is he supposed to be funny? Or is this show supposed to be a legitimately serious series as we see him try to beat games?

Like, I'll see screenshots of him and what he's saying in subtitles, but I never thought it was funny... though I accepted that maybe it's just some injoke that I'll totally get once I watch more episodes. But so far.... eh?

It's both. It's like sitting on a couch and watching your bud who isn't that great at games try and win. Some episodes are not as great as others. Sickle weasle, to me, was the worst one and very boring to watch. Now games like takeshi's castle where it becomes a battle of physical endurance really becomes an edge of your seat "can he really do it" kind of thing. It's about relating to the character who is full of humility, yet tries his best.

There is an interesting scene in that episode later on, when Arino plays a game with an American (or some tourist) woman. After he beats her, he gloats and really rubs it into her face and she seems visibly upset.

It's a bit of an awkward scene, but it actually represents some cultural differences well to me.

It is not because SA hates the episode. SA just doesn't high priority on subbing 2 part episodes.

I do know that Mendel Palace is being worked on by one of the SA's other translator's (not zarigani). That will have all the episodes from the first 12 seasons subbed. Season 14 is finished, but season 13 has 3 episodes left. Hope to see the rest of the earlier episodes subbed quickly.

Yeah, they exaggerate the staff character traits a little, but it's mostly in keeping with the theme of the show. I know that Arino isn't really the Kacho of anything, so I can suspend my disbelief a little further.

This may be a long shot to ask here on this thread. Does anyone know where to download the raw of GCCX episodes #154 and 155 (Metro Cross Part 1 and 2)? These are the only standard GCCX episode raws I am missing from my hard drive that have yet to be subbed. The videos range from HD to super poor quality. I already know where to find a streaming video, but don't know how to rip videos from Youku without installing other software. Anyone here can help?

Sorry, the only way I know how might be to use a browser extension, but that site doesn't even appear compatible with the ones I've tried. It even seems to foil some standard ad blockers. I'll keep trying.
