This. Either because of the weak ass CPU or other limitation, it's a challenge to find any beat'em up with more than 3 simultaneous enemies or space shooters that don't slow down to a crawl with lots of enemies/bullets.

-only 16bit component is the cpu, rest is 8bit throughout
-cpu is slow as shit, resulting in slow games
-memory bus too slow
-sound chip sucks donkey balls
-controller isnt ergonomic in the slightest, or made for longer gaming sessions
-sub standard resolution for 1991
-annoying blur filter to cope
-and the usa case is exceptionally ugly

I think thats all for the moment.

Snes controller didn't only have more buttons, they were better aligned too. They were aligned in a way that you can press two buttons without having to move your thumb making it more comfortable to play games, specially action games. On the Genesis you have to constantly move your thumb in order to press different buttons, not a good design.

>> No.5761106

And succeeding. It is hideous. It's as bad as the TurboGrafx. No - it's actually worse. Why do you do that? Why do you take great looking machines and turn them into monstrosities? Find me one sane person who prefers the CDX and X'Eye over the original Wondermega. I bet you were crying when you saw those pieces of shit. Hey, probably not, if the above are anything to go by, but I know the rest of the world was. You have no taste.

You have to move your thumb just as much with a SNES controller if you want to use a 3rd or 4th button.

Complete and utter bullshit. I press two buttons with one thumb on my MEGA DRIVE pads all the time. And pressing X+B and A+Y on a SNES pad is akin to advanced finger acrobatics. Speaking of the snes pad, playing for longer hours constantly gave me blisters on both index fingers. Some of you guys really need to take of your ninty tinted glasses once in a while.

Unless we're talking about fighting games, games rarely require the use of three or more buttons in a short period of time. Usually it's just 2 buttons used simultaneously and then a third or fourth button for a side function that's not used as often. It's undeniable that the Snes controller delivers a better experience in most cases.

Pressing two buttons at the same time on the Genesis controller is awkward at best, not suitable for action games.

>And pressing X+B and A+Y on a SNES pad is akin to advanced finger acrobatics

Name a single game that requires these combinations to be pressed at the same time.

I actually am interested in knowing how you got blisters in your index fingers considering they're just used for the triggers, so not very often. Also the Genesis dpad hurts my thumb when I'm playing Street Fighter, it's a bit too stiff for special moves.

Dude. Get your snes pad out. And then get your 6 button fighting pad MD/GEN out. And then take a cold hard look at both designs.

- Its US case design.
- Its inferior version of the first Mortal Kombat.
- Its inferior version of Aladdin (Capcom is overrated).
- Squaresoft RPGs are overrated. Besides Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG, these games were snoozefests.
- Star Fox is extremely overrated. It might have been graphically impressive if you never saw a PC or arcade game from that era but it's little more than a tech demo.
- The visuals for Super Mario All-Stars aged like ass.
- No one cares about Killer Instinct.
- Donkey Kong Country has aged and feels slow. This was the game that finally gave Nintendo the marketable edge over SEGA but it's dreadful today.

>> No.5761384

I would say the framerate drop in certain games but that is hindsight talking.

Oh and there was no USA release of Terranigma because Enix was scared of pissing off Bible-thumpers so you could only play it if you got a UK console and UK copy or used emulation.
