no. I used to use some generic xbox360 gamepad for many years. Recently bought a ps4 controller and it is great. I enjoy the Dpad for retro stuff and the buttons are easier to press for fighting games or more button masher type games.

I use Xbox360 because I've always had trouble getting playstation controllers to work (and I like the analog sticks better for newer games).
The d-pad on the Xbox controller is awful, though. Nowhere near as good as the original nes or snes pads.

The dualshock 4 is my go-to for emulation. Its one of the most comfortable controllers ever designed. it works great via bluetooth on my raspberry pi
