What's the best version of Flashback?

Dunno but the best version of Another World is 3DO one

I thought the Sega CD version was pretty good. The CD I rented from 16,000 Movies was scratched and would skip during some spoken audio tracks, though.

Just checked my backloggery to see which version I decided on for queueing

"Macintosh"

Well, there you go, don't remember my reasoning for it but it does seem to have a high res

I remember when my Dad's friend gave us some bootleg floppies for this game. Or maybe it was on CD at the time. Pretty sure it was Floppies though for our IBM compatible.

Neat game, but it never held my interest for over a half hour. Did I miss out?

I'd say yes, I personally really enjoyed the experience on my Genesis back in the day.
Still get goosebumps seeing the ending.

DOS is best, unless you prefer prerendered CG scenes to chunky polygons, in which case pick mega CD. Avoid the terrible, terrible modern remake.

REminiscence Flashback engine implementation is currently the best way to experience the game.
Then the Amiga version.
Third would be Sega Genesis.

Amiga closely followed by the Megadrive.
Dos has inferior audio, SNES is slowdown city and Mega CD is garbage.

Nope, 3DO may be the worst version. Sega CD. Or SNES for its sound.

Sega CD has stage music, other versions have incidental music. So either Sega CD or Genesis.

I close my eyes and I see the flames. I see the jungles burning and I can hear the screams of the men, sometimes even underground, as they roast alive. When the jungle was done burning, I'd sometimes see charred lumps and if I stretched my imagination, I could see that maybe they were once humans, like me. But the worst time was when we were in some tiny jungle village and came under fire. We radioed in for air support and were told to head to the hill on the southeast side of the village. One of the guys took a dinger on the trek up that hill, but we managed to make it and fortify ourselves. 15 minutes later, the bombs dropped. I watched as naked peasants ran screaming through the mud and muck, holding their babies, as they burned alive, wailing in unison, dying in chorus. I saw gruesome, wretched lumps that used to be people. When I dream about it, I see their spirits or something leaving their bodies. Even little baby ones. For me, that's the worst flashback. The best is probably the DOS version.

I wasn't a fan of the Sega CD stage music, it kinda.. takes away from the experience.

Doesn't the Sega CD version has those great cutscenes replaced with ugly early 3D models? Definite NO.
