I remember constantly resetting until the store sold the spell book for Cold Bolt because of how good it was.

Cataclysm - Dark Days Ahead is one of the best roguelikes you can find. Easy to mod too.

I've never played a proper roguelike but they seem fun as hell. Anyone recomend a good one? Preferably that I can run without too much hassle. My computers being repaired so all I have is the 5 year old family desktop for a while.

I don't even know which roguelikes are retro. I used to play Dungeon Crawl before Stone Soup's contributors ruined it lately. Elona was fun but I could never get into it or the complicated roguelikes like it.

DOOMRL is the one I have the most fun with.

Seriously ADOM would it kill you to give you at least one guaranteed source for an Amulet of Lifesaving?

Every single game I've gotten to Khelavaster I always go back and never find neither wishes nor AoLS even when I raid the Water Dragon Cave, drink pools in Darkforge or scum in ID for five hours.

It's gotten to the point I've thought it would be more viable to go Wizard and loot the Library for a Spellbook of Wish and then grind until I can cast it for the fucking amulet.

I know it's babby's first Roguelike, but I fucking adore the Shiren series.

you can rename the "generic fruit" item to whatever you want in Nethack. By default, it's "slime mold" But you can change it to things like "bottle of cyanide" or "Amulet of Yendor named REAL" or "percent sign" or "soylent green" or "rick roll"

Funnily, I always seem to find one. I think at least one is guaranteed to spawn. ADOM is closed-source however so I can't check that.
