Know the worst part about PD? No one tells you that you'll start developing early dementia or that your breath will smell like a week old corpse in Calcutta because the tremors cause your teeth to grind, creating microcracks that that are impossible to keep clean.
Know what else they don't tell you? Playing video games and riding a bike keep PD symptoms at bay. Regularly, I fidget more than an unmedicated ADHD kid after he'd had some Jolt cola but while I play vidya (and for a short while after, too), I have no symptoms at all. /vr/ is literally improving my quality of life.

Why would you waste your time with either of those things when you could be learning a foreign language, though?

Personally, I don't bother much with old PC stuff. It's fun to go on a dive through occasionally and look at some basic doujin releases, but SRPGs and JRPGs are both genres I despise. The only SRPG I can stand is Sakura Wars, and I've yet to find a single JRPG I can stand that isn't literal porn.

The only good option for that is Koei's EMIT. It was made as a game to teach English to Japanese but it works the other way as well. It allows you to switch between English and Japanese independently for audio and subtitles and go back and forth between sentences.
It was ported to a lot of systems like PS1, SS, 3DO, PC98, SFC (with CD player synchronization) but not the PC-FX.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emit_(video_game)

Otherwise translations take too many liberties to work as a cross reference.
You can try it with manga and you will see that the translation doesn't match the Japanese.

>> No.5707826

God, I'm reading Yotsuba in nip right now to practice (lots of resources just surrounding the first volume alone). The translations take a fucking asston of liberties.
They're still useful for figuring how certain things work, but you still need to do a lot of manual referencing of words and grammar and big chunks of a translation can be made from whole cloth.

>>5706754
nip is kinda obnoxious to learn, mostly because if I'm reading something and I don't know the word, if I can't just copy/paste it into jisho and there's no furigana, I'm completely SOL because I don't know the kanji to look it up with

For compound words where you can recognize some of the kanji you can use wildcards.
Or you take a guess at the meaning and look up in a dictionary if you were right.
