Why? Iguanas look nothing like HDTVs. I thought it was an LCD as well. And I really hope it's not an iguana. They make great pets and there's no reason to keep them locked up. Especially in a box like that doesn't work for any kind of iguana.

Felis catus is your taxonomic nomenclature.
An endothermic quadruped, carnivorous by nature.
Your visual, olfactory, and auditory senses
Contribute to your hunting skill and natural defences.
I find myself intrigued by your subvocal oscillations.
A singular development of cat communications
That obviates your basic hedonistic predilection,
For a rhythmic stroking of your fur to demonstrate affection.
A tail is quite essential for your acrobatic talents.
You would not be so agile if you lacked its counterbalance.
And when not being utilised to aid in locomotion
It often serves to illustrate the state of your emotions.
Oh, Spot, the complex levels of behaviour you display
Connote a fairly well developed cognitive array.
And though you are not sentient, Spot, and do not comprehend
I nonetheless consider you a true and valued friend.

I agreed to put all my stuff in storage except for 2 consoles and a handful of games for a while, but i started to realize having all of my shit out was dominating the space. When the SNES Classic came out I told her I'd be okay with just that and get rid of my collections except Dreamcast, I also bought a Wii U and hacked it. I'm tempted to buy a PS3 and hack it and I know I'm gonna buy the Genesis Mini, and most likely the Turbo Graffix 16 Mini because those were a part of my childhood. My handheld is an old GBA Micro and I'm considering selling that (because prices are absurd) and buying a 2DS. I'll probably buy the DS first and decide if I'm okay with the controls. I once hated using anything other than original hardware, but now I don't mind so much.

I'm doing the same thing and bought a bunch of those mini consoles too.
It's not expensive and I don't see the point in collecting fragile devices anymore, especially when obtaining games for them is so expensive, and the inflated prices for everdrives. I'm also getting the Genesis and the Turbo Grafix, pretty excited about those because I never owned them, I'm from 93.

Surprisingly my girlfriend is pretty cool about collecting, she started collecting PS2 games and bought her own PS2 recently, so I've infected her a little.
She wants me to buy a CRT but I don't really see the need to except for maybe better output for my N64 and PS2.

If I just need the joystick i can lay down if i want to. It's my most used system right now, i beat defender of the crown a few weeks ago, and I've been playing sim city and marble madness recently. Played a couple of games of golden pyramid with my wife the other day too. I did turn them on for the picture though, I wasn't playing defender of the crown and Layla at the exact same time. When we moved in together, my wife legit expected me to put my CRT and old consoles in the living room and she was 100% okay with it. The house has a wood-paneled sunroom just off the living room, which I kind of thought was more cozy, so I made a little CRT nook out there instead. The best part is that her favorite chair is just outside the door to the left, so we can still enjoy eachother's company while we're doing our own thing. Last Summer just after we moved in, she was playing Octopath Traveler while I was playing Grandia. Good fuckin' times.

I think more than anything I liked the aesthetic. Picture was good but I get a great picture out of my 36inch and I can't actually play it from anywhere in my room

I hear you. I think the one thing I miss having a bigger set for is non-retro stuff. 6th gen RPGs on the PS2/Gamecube really benefit from the added screen real-estate. I'm very glad I played DQVIII while I still had my 32" JVC.

I never even took any pictures of that battlestation because that was years before /vr/ was a thing and battlestation threads made me think it was cool to share pictures of my electronic refuse with strangers.

Thank you! Here's how it looks now. And nope, just a cheap shelf off Amazon. I'm very much out of room though, and definitely need another. Hopefully I can get rid of that closet to the right.

after some thought I think you should ditch the idea of using that shelf as the place to put your display. Something about it is just uncomfortable and not pleasing to the eyes. What I would do instead is put the actual set up somewhere else and just use this as shelf space

Get some bins out all your games in them. Do some shitty cable management by hiding your cables behind the back panels of your closet or whatever that is. Try lowering the tv a peg or two otherwise you're going to be straining your neck like a fucking psycho it's uncomfortable just looking at it. Other than that there's not much else you can do with it

I dont think the photo really helps.
The monitor is at eye levvel with the chairs I have and its kinda an enclosed space there is a wall to the right as well.

Its obvious I have alot of cable management to work through but these shelves are ideal. I can adjust them to any height and the open up in the back for cables

Yeah. It's the best way to get that authentic "VHS aesthetic" of grainy video with bad sync. Without all those heat and EM changes the tapes would just look like broadcast picked up on rabbit ears.

>> No.5708979

Confirmed moron. PVMs are magnetically shielded and don't create their own magnetic field in the first place. And the vents are in the back. If you have a CRT that gets hot enough to give off an aura of warmth, you should probably take it to someone who actually knows something about electronics, you dumb zoomer.

If /vr/ were a board about cycling, it would just be a bunch of retards who have never ridden a bike trying to explain how they think putting your feet on the pedals would damage them.

>big bin
I've been using these little boxes from "Snap n' Store" to hold my games for years. They're pretty cheap on amazon, and they come in all kinds of sizes. The CD-size boxes come in single and double-wide and will fit NES games and jewel cases perfectly. The index card boxes come in sizes that will fit Genesis, N64 and SNES games, although they're a bit smaller overall. And their DVD boxes will fit PS2 and Gamecube games and the like. They're pretty cheap on amazon and look a lot nicer than most bins.

If your shelving is properly sized to fit your games like >>5707072, then I don't think bins are necessary, but otherwise I find them quite convenient and nicer-looking.

>> No.5709706

They did and it was such a problem that they made special devices to fix it. A lot of broadcast equipment wouldn't even try to deal with a signal off tape unless you ran it through one of those. You have no idea how funny it is to sit here reading the rants of a retarded fuck who's completely convinced he's right and doesn't have the slightest clue how ignorant he actually is. Keep it up. This is going to be fun.

>Keep it up. This is going to be fun.
If bickering about your baseless opinion on the ground of trying to win upvotes on 4chan is "fun"... The fact that you are dumb enough to think a CRT generates a magnetic field outside of its tube, or that it radiates enough heat to damage other electronic devices, designed specifically to work in close proximity already proves you're not bright. VHS sync is never an issue with entirely analog setups, and even then only with extreme wear or damage, and that's literally what the tracking control is for you dolt. Any VCR in professional broadcast use would have been a high end model with one of those "special devices" you mention already built in. You're trying to reach to an absolute extreme scenario to back up your stupid claim that you probably saw on reddit or after reading a single wikipedia page. The point you're trying to make is like saying, "Good luck driving that car! You'd need some kind of braking system to keep from killing yourself!"

The vintage SONY audio stuff is cool, although I was always partial to the Pioneers and Harmon/Kardons of the day.
The wood paneling on the Pioneers was so damn classy, and the H/Ks had the coolest back-lit panels ever.
My favorite retroshit ever was 70's Bang & Olufsen, but that's an entirely different orbit.
Still, some nice stuff in there.

Yeah, Pioneer was definitely a pretty big name. I was always a fan of Marantz and Nikko, because my parents had this amazing Nikko stereo system that they had bought with their wedding gift money. I remember the day I figured out how to hook my video games up to that and it was glorious.

I only went with all Sony because the monitor was free from an editing company near where I work, and I already had the Sony speakers, and then a really great Sony amp turned up at a churh fair rummage sale, so I thought it would be cool to make everything match. There's some really amazing Sony stuff out there that flies under the radar of most audiophiles because Sony has a reputation for cheap consumer shit, but back in the late 70s and 80s they flirted with greatness on more than a few occasions. I'm completely impressed with the automatic turntable I nabbed. Almost 40 years old and it's been more reliable than any I've ever had.
