I am looking for an epic sense of adventure. 3d games around the time of anachronox seemed to find a great balance of epic game length and story with wonderful worlds. So any games from the era epicness and likeness of Anachronox or Omikron thread you can recommend?

I might just play anachronox again but something new would be nice.

The fighting was fine for me, but those FPS parts made me want to split my dick clean in half.

Bump for interest.

I never beat Anachronox. I got to...some big elevator or something I think. Maybe just past there. Anyway I know it wasn't that far into it. My comp at the time gasped it's last and I didn't want to do all those side quests again.

As for recommendations OP, it's tough. Open worlds were so new at the time that they were rarely done properly. Things like Deus Ex give a lot of freedom, but in enclosed areas.

Yes Yes, should have mentioned that. I just assumed morrowind was a pre-req to 4chan.

Morrowind despite its problems was probably one of my favorite rpgs. The worlds were amazing at the time.

The golden era of the blue edios demo disc. Thief games were thrown in there were they not? Although as amazing as thief games were, they didnt feel to me like epic adventures like ana.

don't get your hopes up too high, it's a pretty shitty game with an unfulfilling ending

well fuck, why do people keep putting it in top 10 lists then?

I wouldn't say it's shitty at all. It's a pretty standard P&C adventure game, with a really nice story/setting/atmosphere, and some decent puzzles.

this is kind of out there and a completely different game but anachronox and anteaus rising give me similar feels.

+1 for Twinsen's Odyssey (Little big adventure 2)
and vampire bloodlines

if you get bloodlines search for the unofficial patches though, because it fresh installed is bugged to the point of being unplayable
