Turn-based tactical campaign of wizards battling each other over hex maps. You summon creatures to fight for you; as they do so, they gain experience, and some can evolve into more powerful versions once they level up. Have you actually played Bangai-O? Bangai-O is not about dodging bullets, it's about countering them WITH the itano circus. You're the one who fires the itano circus, not the enemies. Also, itano circus mostly makes references to targeted missiles that twists and stuff, not to the classic "bullet curtain" from danmaku games.

Have YOU played Bangai-O? Even if you don't have a full gauge, you can still counter bullets with normal fire. There's no dodging like in a danmaku game. Bangai-O's hitbox is too big for that, just try dodging a boss' itano attack like you would in a danmaku game and tell me how it goes.
>too bad you just come off as schizophrenic whenever you bring him up though

you're the one moving goalposts now. you originally said "counter with itano circus", you can't counter with itano circus if your gauge is empty. normal fire is different

>There's no dodging like in a danmaku game.
you can if you get enough distance between you and the enemy to do so. and if you miss with your attacks you will obviously have to maneuver away

>you're the one moving goalposts now. you originally said "counter with itano circus", you can't counter with itano circus if your gauge is empty. normal fire is different
The itano circus is the proper way to actually counter many bullets in Bangai-O, with normal fire you can't do much, but if you're out of gauge, you can run away and try to counter with regular fire.
>you can if you get enough distance between you and the enemy to do so. and if you miss with your attacks you will obviously have to maneuver away
Ah, "maneuver away" is not the same as dodging as in a danmaku. Bangai-O doesn't even stay in place like a ship/loli in a regular shooter would. There's actual physics going on in Bangai-O. If you just let it float in the air, he'll eventually start going down unless you start maneuvering and using the jets for propulsion.
Again: have YOU played Bangai-O?
>i'm not him, but whatever, keep forcing the australian thing whenever you run out of arguments

right. and the dreamcast version made countering even easier to refill your bomb gauge (which imo is better than how n64 does it by making you have to collect fruits for energy, faster gameplay)

>Ah, "maneuver away" is not the same as dodging as in a danmaku.
only difference is your shots can bullet cancel the enemy's fire, lots of other shmups have a bullet canceling gimmick

>Bangai-O doesn't even stay in place like a ship/loli in a regular shooter would. There's actual physics going on in Bangai-O. If you just let it float in the air, he'll eventually start going down unless you start maneuvering and using the jets for propulsion.

>> No.5680168

>>5680149
>which imo is better than how n64 does it by making you have to collect fruits for energy, faster gameplay
Not really that much of a difference actually. On N64, you can stock up to 1000 bullets (on DC, you have a limited amount of bullets you can shot depending on enemies on screen, never more than 500 iirc). DC is more hand-holdy, but both can be played in the same way. Main difference is that in N64 you'll need to know where it is more effective to shoot the itano circus in order to make combos and upgrade your shots, but you can play the whole game without ever upgrading, if you don't want to. Except maybe for the final stage.
The fruit collecting is something that comes along the way because enemies leave them behind. The only reason to actually collect every single fruit in the game is if you want a 100% destroy rate for score, but you have to also be quick because there's a time score.
>only difference is your shots can bullet cancel the enemy's fire, lots of other shmups have a bullet canceling gimmick
That's not the only difference. You can't dodge between a lot of bullets, again, Bagai-O's hitbox wouldn't allow that. This is not a danmaku shooter.
>right, there's an anti-grav/hovering gimmick, in fact very similar to ranger x's
Yeah, I guess that's the only similar aspect both games have, but still handle it in different ways. Again, Bangai-O is a spiritual successor to Hover Attack on PC-88. Not only in the hover "gimmick", but also in level design and the way you can shoot in 8 directions.
>funny coming from the guy that didn't know other enemies in the game could perform missile volleys

There was little companies like Nintendo and Sega could do against Sony.
Sony owned the CD factories (that means Sega was indirectly making money for Sony by pressing Saturn discs), Sony was a multinational corporation with lots of money to burn on advertisement and selling hardware at a loss.
Blaming the Saturn itself for Sony taking over is wrong.

Australia-kun hates Bangai-o? Well, time to finally give this game a go. If he hates it, it must be good.

He just hates that it was on a Nintendo system first. He probably secretly enjoys playing the game, on Dreamcast of course.

imagine hating a game just because of brand stuff.
It's not like it was even published by nintendo themselves, iirc bangai-o was an independent 3rd party release.

Anyone else think Bangai-O was Treasure's best fifth-gen game?

I thought it was the best Treasure game period.

Yes. Here's my per-gen ranking of Treasure games:

4th: Alien Soldier > Dynamite Headdy > Gunstar Heroes > Yu Yu Hakusho > Light Crusader > McDonald's
5th: Bangai-O (N64) > Silhouette Mirage > Mischief Makers > Radiant Silvergun > Sin & Punishment > Guardian Heroes > Rakugaki Showtime
6th: Bangai-O (DC) > Gradius V > Astroboy > Wario World > Ikaruga > Gunstar Superheroes > Silpheed > Ippo > Advanced Guardian Heroes > Stretch Panic > Dragon D-Drive > Buster's Bad Dream

>> No.5682007

>we could've had Sin & Punishment on the Saturn made by a collab between Team Andromeda and Treasure

FUCK TRASHURE GODDAMN

>> No.5682020

>>5682007
But... Sin and Punishment is not really similar to Panzer Dragoon. Sure they're both on-rails, but play completely different. S&P has ranged melee attacks, dodge mechanics, deflecting mechanics, and even a side-scrolling part on a stage.
PD have 360-rotating camera.
Your anti-nintendo bias is making you say some really stupid stuff, australia. Give it a rest at least for a few days, you're tiring.

>Sin and Punishment is not really similar to Panzer Dragoon.
S&P isn't similar to Star Fox either, that's beside the point. TA would've had a greater influence on the game than Nintendon't, and the game most likely would have turned out much better as a result.

>even a side-scrolling part on a stage.
Typical Trashure, can't stick with making one idea good so they have to throw in other random shite.

I never mentioned that the Starfox team should work on S&P, though.
Anyway, knowing that you're obsessed with nintendo, and suffer because S&P is a nintendo exclusive is kind of a good feel.

You didn't know one of their divisions assisted Treasure on S&P...?

I actually didn't, any source? I only knew that the guy who produced from Nintendo's side was the creator of Panel de Pon.

Imagine being bitter like you and not being able to enjoy that kind of wicked shit Treasure was pulling off.
The thing with Treasure is that they switch perspectives or objectives in what you're doing in the game but the gameplay is still the same.
The part in Sin and Punishment when you start playing a falling block puzzle game on the train level is insane.
Not to mention the final block being straight up a Space Invaders homage.

Why do people like Treashit again?

>>5682123
Maybe, point is the game has Nintendo's taint on it. If it had a Sega touch it would suck less.

well too bad S&P is widely considered to be a masterpiece that even got NoA to publish it on the Wii and it sold so well, Nintendo paid for another sequel, which guess what again, it is also considered to be a great game, some say even better than the first game.
Get over it austry, Nintendo got some cool Treasure stuff and you know it.
Laugh at the sonyggers, they didn't get much outside of Gradius V (which you also hate because of no moai, right?)
