Don't listen to that fag, the all versions are good, PS2 has better audio quality and the DS one has an extra wife, the original one is the most vanilla allowing you to have only three party members but still is a great game.
I always go with pic related because of the low poly graphics and music.

I played through DQ3 and couldn't be bothered to do the last dungeon or boss because it was just the same as the 10+ things i had done before but with bigger breath attacks and hitting you twice

There's serpent dragons, hydras, turtle dragons, skeleton dragons, and the original green dragon from the first game all as enemies in 3, what the fuck are you talking about?

Did anyone here ever grind to get some of the uber powerful monsters with rare recruit rates? I didn't see the point, since Golem and Orc King are easy to get and more than enough to handle all the endgame content.

the worst thing about the DS remakes are the accents and stupid jokes they put in. In the IV remake I think, I remember an NPC in the Zenithian castle who talked like Ned Flanders (diddly, doodly, etc.)

I don't remember that. In Zenithia they mostly spoke archaic English like in the old Dragon Warrior games. I wish they kept localizing DQ with that kind of text instead of going the Saturday morning cartoon route.

It's not really necessary to do so but some rarer monsters can be helpful to have. At the same time some very early and/or easy to recruit monsters, like the slime knight, can be used until the endgame.

Supposedly Hori himself told them to stop that. Honestly the translations for the DWII-IV releases are surprisingly good for their age, beside some censorship they're quite faithful.
