That's not Alien vs Predator. I wish we had something similar to it, zooming around the screen to dodge and pounce on things is very fun.

Are we allowed to make a thread on OpenBOR games on VR? There's Super Double Dragon game that came out these days...

>> No.5678702

It's good but it's not the peak. One thing that feels a bit tedious about this game is the way you can finish off a combo with a throw in any direction. The front throw practically renders the normal full combo useless. It's slightly slower but it gives you full throw iframes along with acting as an AOE attack, the benefits outweigh the slower speed so much that there's no point using the normal combo 99% of the time meaning you'll just be finishing every combo with a throw. Compare this to games where you can only throw behind yourself, there you have more reason to alternate between normal combo finisher and throw finisher. Punisher fixed this by making throws less effective by giving enemies quicker recovery and ways to land softly. Also it has 4 whole characters but they all play too similarly, and Mustapha's kick is retarded strong. Final Fight is the peak IMO which is funny because it's the first of its kind.

So check this out. Its fun. Take a bad DD with good ideas and make it decent while putting a whole lot of bells and whistles along with it.

Also, it's pretty weird that Doom have a 25 year old community that runs entirely on mods and that doesn't really happen with BOR. I guess very few games are actually good.

Yes out of all of them FF is the one that really feels like it's out to kill you with the most aggressive enemies and worst case of snowballing around. It's got some unrefined aspects that give it that character too like a lack of iframes on wakeup and after superjoy usage, so there's always that feeling that you can get mercilessly btfo in most screens.

Nope. The combo finisher does more damage to all enemies you hit. The throw does very little damage to enemies being hit by the thrown enemy. So there IS a purpose to using the combo finisher. The damage is further increased by the "rage" system. Also, stop nitpicking, you might as well mention how Final Fight has infinites, bosses that require exploits to get around their invincibility, enemy disappearing exploits, Cody knife spam on off-screen enemies, etc, etc, etc. Both Final Fight and Cadillacs are awesome games so just shut the fuck up and stop trying to act smart.

That's why I said practically, if you say have enemies pinned to the wall doing a normal combo is fine (although they can sometimes sneak in hits for some characters like Mess who has slow recovery after the last hit, go figure), but in most situation you're going to be spamming that shit. Final Fight's infinites ARE bad and Cody's knife spam IS bad but both require set up, are more situational and in the knife spam's case Haggar can't do that shit. I'm guessing you're talking about Sodom with the boss invincibility comment? You don't HAVE to use exploits, if you position yourself right as he's dashing you can just grab him out of the dash and not worry about his wake up invincibility.

The fuck kinda smooth brain criticizes beat em ups for their level design? The whole point is encounters, it's always been the point and remains the point in 3D bmups to this day. Also stop playing SNES games, most arcade titles allow a ton of enemies on screen, and the enemy types are challenging and varied with several different moves and different roles in combat. That's why you can have an 8 enemy screen in Final Fight that's harder than any boss could ever be.

One of the best Konami bmups, very simple and straightforward but fast paced and fun. Some aspects are really frustrating though, like the ground attack can be finnicky, and enemies get grab invincibility when attacking. Also bosses are all fought the exact same way, and the only reason they're challenging is because you can't interrupt their attacks which can be annoying. Super easy on normal, but actually on par with most Capcom's games on the hardest setting.
