>"We're working on that in a variety of ways," Matsuda said. "That is a request that we hear often. As far as our major titles go, most of those, we still have variations out that you can play now. The more classic titles that you might have played on NES, we are still working hard to make it so you can play those. We actually have launched a dedicated project internally to port those, so we are working to make them available on a variety of platforms. Certainly down the road, we would like to see that on a subscription or streaming service, so we're exploring the possibility of creating a dedicated channel for ourselves."
>Matsuda noted that a variety of other publishers are doing similar things, using Bethesda's announcement of its streaming service as an example. "I think everyone is going in that direction, so we do want to be proactive in considering those options. We still don't know if it would be a subscription service or an exclusive downloading service or what form it might take, but we do want to leverage our catalog."
>However, there's been one major bump in the road in getting the complete catalog together, especially from games in Square's early days. "I'm embarrassed to admit it, but in some cases, we don't know where the code is anymore. It's very hard to find them sometimes, because back in the day you just made them and put them out there and you were done – you didn't think of how you were going to sell them down the road. Sometimes customers ask, 'Why haven't you released that [game] yet?' And the truth of the matter is it's because we don't know where it has gone."

So, do you hope it will be something like Humble Trove, which is DRM-free? Or something like the Game Pass of Microsoft Store, Discord Nitro and Origin Access, with DRM? Or something like AntStream?

>> No.5665260

How dare they lose the sourcecode for PC88 eroge?

>> No.5665265

Not sure why the source code is relevant since they just emulate this stuff anyway?

>> No.5665289

>>5665265
I can think of two reasons, they prefer native ports and that it's easier to make localizations.

that ps4 collection is garbage. Emulation is terrible
another shit emulation made by anglos

>> No.5667624

It would suck the big one if they only bring these rereleases to a fucking streaming service

>the entire Square-Enix library
This would be an immaculate gift. Imagine being easily able to access Parasite Eve, Live-a-Live, and the more obscure SaGa all in one place.

They really want gamers to pay over 300 dollars in subscriptions for every console and publisher ffs

I hope this "every company needs a streaming service" fad dies soon. It's fundamentally anti-consumer. I wish 90% of consumers weren't brainless idiots who don't care that they're getting fucked in the ass by megacorporations.

So much drama over children's toys. How about you give up trying to play every videogayme ever created and just focus on a few series you like? Like any sane, responsible adult.

>> No.5671778

>>5671761
Why are you on a videogames forum if you don't care about playing videogames? Fuck off. If the "few series" I like happen to come from different companies then that means I'm roped into paying upwards of 60 bucks a month just to play them.

No bundle ends today. So, it will be literally nothing. If 2, confirmed.

If you're still too retarded to make your own backups type name of console + redump full set torrent on google and shit bricks. There are enough games there to last multiple lifetimes.

>> No.5671949

>>5671945
This is a workaround, not a solution to a growing problem. When the videogame companies realize torrents are taking revenue away from their shitty streaming sites, theyll go apeshit, litigate whoever they have to to get the sites taken down, and repeat. Nintendo has already started going after rom sites and has succeeded in getting the roms for a lot of their popular games taken down.

>> No.5671960

>>5671949
Bull.
Early this year Nintendo just went on a legal crusade against rom sites but you can still find pirated nintendo roms easily, including recent Switch games. You don't need to accumulate this many videogames.
