A lot of free CRTs will have some kind of major issue. Not this severe, but people seem to conveniently not talk about this fact.

And many of them don't. I dumped one that had a broken volume button that anyone else could have easily fixed.

Most don't have any issue they didn't have when near new. CRT production was known to be mediocre. You pretty much had to get a pc monitor or a professional CRT to guarantee anything good.

False and zoomerpilled

Most CRTs (unless they were tiny ones) were pretty good quality to excellent quality.

I have a super old CRT with the knobs to adjust those. They were super sensitive and bumping the table could cause the image to go crazy.

I have literally found two CRTs near dumpsters within the last month. Both worked, and one was a TV/VCR combo. I live in Vegas, and I'm starting to find LCD/LEDs more and more next to dumpsters. East coast anons beware abandoned CRTs. Scrappers will drive by a CRT on the side of the road and cut the power cord off.

>> No.5658446

This week I got an interesting CRT off Craig's List. It's a Toshiba Bomba that has controls in English and Arabic(?) and can display in NTSC, PAL, and SECAM. I'm getting back into retro vidya after having to sell my collection a few years ago to pay the bills. Fuck, PVMs and stupidly expensive now.

Just yesterday I found a "made in usa" hitachi tv/monitor from 1985. It has composite and rf, both spade terminal and screw on style. Color, 22". I was legitimately surprised at the quality of the tube. It also has an on screen display, so might be rgb modable. This isn't some high dollar holy grail, but is DAMN surprising for a period correctly tv. You never know what you'll find desu, usually shit, but keep your eyes open. Curb picks have went down at least 50% from 2 years ago in my area, and I watch this shit like a hawk.

I once saw this done to a Laser Disc player at a curb. I was furious, because I was so ready to watch some vintage anime before I saw the cut cord.
