i wasn't really aware of it when i first played ff7 as a teenager, but on my later playthroughs, i was surprised to see how cheeky and coquettish and sassy aerith is. it betrays her character stereotype a fair bit. at the same time, tifa is surprisingly meek and and reserved. it's a very simple trick in writing, but it worked well. i don't really expect any of that to be left in the remake. there won't be enough of the tiny, quiet character-defining moments in the remake.

Final Fantasy is Dead

Her tits were never as gigantic as people like to say. The original artwork for Tifa has her big, but not nearly as big as people claim. And the in-game cutscene models look gigantic at points mostly due to the fact that the models are fairly bad. Her tits are still big, too. Plenty big.

I have a far greater issue with the unnecessary noise of her new design. It just seems like there's a lot of shit added for no good reason - the new skirt sucks and conflicts with the rest of the look, and she's got bobblehead syndrome which looks really quite strange in a game that's trying to be hyper realistic or whatever.

That being said it's mostly in the spirit of the original design still, so I can respect that. I've been through so many garbage remakes over the years that seeing people complain about THIS makes me think that FF fags have never seen a truly bad redesign in their life.

Not gonna lie that I'm excited for the game, I kinda wish it wasn't episodic, but I understand that they want every event to be detailed with expressions, in the originals all they had to do was put a blue box with text on the screen, there's a lot more of work involved to make everything happen now, that's not counting that all the pre-rendered backgrounds are going to be full realized 3D areas, I think people understimate how transitioning a 1997 game that focuses in length to modern AAA standards in full scale is not a small task as it seems, they would need to either break the 60 dollars limit or make it episodic like now.

The music sounds below average and generic, the battles look they are going to just drag on. Haven't played much of ffxiii, only a little, but the battles look like an updated version. At least the battles in xiii I've played were fast paced. In the vii remake, looks like a might doze off.

Why couldn't they base the character designs off of the original artwork for FF7? The style was already there, but they had to fuck with it.

Reading that kind of reminds me of Metal Gear Solid vs. its Gamecube remake, just way too much shit stuffed into places it's not needed. it was referenced in the original in a nuanced way; about two lines and a red flash on the screen, now it sounds like it's become a two minute cutscene with goofy distortion effects. Sometimes technical limitations allow a better and concise story to be told, that's all.

Fair enough, to me the graphics just look like another generic realistic action game which doesn't really fit the style of FF7 since it has a talking dog/cat with a flaming tail in it and a talking robot cat riding on a stuffed moogle. No, it's not. RTwP is at least something of a hybrid due to features like auto-attack. ATB doesn't have that. It's literally a turn-based system where the turns happen in real time.
And for the record games like Baldur's Gate are absolutely fucking turn-based games also. It hacks on a real-time element in order for (a) seamless integration with the exploration engine and (b) to address the annoying AD&D issue of trash battles requiring a lot of pointless overhead and empty/repetitive turns.

So to sum up: ATB is turn-based. RTwP is also turn-based, but there's at least some erosion of the underlying turn-oriented design and can theoretically (but not reasonably in the case of games like Baldur's Gate) be played without turns in a fully real-time manner.

It's not the same at all. There are no turns in Tekken. There are turns in final fantasy. Each character gets a turn. Each time they get a turn, a menu pops up. They select an action, which is then performed and their turn is over.
