For the uninitiated, the PC engine was the Saturn of the 8-bit gen. It didn't exactly beat its competition at anything, but it had many great games regardless, tons of personality and several gems that just never got ported properly. Konami games especially. They made a good decision here.

I'm one of the few in America that owned one as a kid. I had one, sadly do not have it no more though. It was a nice little console so as long as they include enough games and the emulation is good this mini should be a fun buy. I think one problem though is not enough people will have a nostalgia for it unless they are Japanese. So this thing will either go ignored or maybe it will sell on the novelty which hopefully it does sell since it deserved more sales.

The Saturn was a complete market failure, the PC Engine was mass produced by several companies and had a longer life than anyone expected. That's because "the version that was actually available in Europe" was an obscurity nobody even knew existed. Everyone that owned the thing back in the day owned an imported PC Engine. Import gaming is much bigger in Europe than in America.

I didn't lose them in any way, so I feel rather smug. Before they closed their shop I downloaded everything I wanted, then moved them all onto an SD card and then did it again with another card, with some being leftover on the Wii's system memory (redundant ones again).
And with the Wii being able to output 240p, it's probably the all-around best classic go to emulator box.
