Hey /vr/, I just picked this up at a Goodwill for $5.99, and it's the only luck I've had for a while.

The inserts/disc are absolutely fantastic, but the jewel case is pretty scratched up and has plastic chipped off near the hinge.

Somehow, I can't get any of it to show up in a photo.

My question to you guys is whether or not I should sell it with this case or if I should get a replacement case?

Do people care if it is in the same case it was originally packaged in? Is there even a way for them to tell?

I believe there's a serial code-ish imprint inside of the case, and I think it varies depending on the game.

Recommended course of action?

You can take all of the design (cover art, etc.) out of the jewel case, even the border. It's sorta complex (not really) but you can just put all of it into a new case.

Personally, I'd get a nice DVD case, and then use that. Print out a nice cover. Use that. Include the instruction manual inside.

I really hate cd jewel cases, since the plastic is so fragile. I love dvd cases.

Will people be able to tell that I changed the case?

How about just playing it? And if it bothers you, replace the cracked case

Not if you do it right.

Not once before today have I ever heard anyone mention a jewel case having a serial number that corresponds to the game because

a) That would be pointless and increase manufacturing costs, and
b) Nobody has ever cared, and neither should you

If you decide to sell it, it's not like you're going to get more money if the numbers match up. It's a $20 game, not a vintage car

just use a generic see-through cd case. There's nothing special about the ones they use for PS1 games.

My recommended course of action is to go fuck yourself
