The source code repository, converted from VSS, containing every single change ever made for the PlayStation 1 game, SpongeBob SquarePants: SuperSponge, developed by Climax Studios and released November of 2001. Compilation requires a Windows 98 Virtual Machine (or real machine) as the tool for creating disk image files, Slink, does not function properly on anything past Windows 2000 based on our testing. There are no other requisites or SDK requirements. Everything necessary to compile was included in the repository by the developers. Just simply run MakeUSA.bat or MakeEUR.bat to make a US or UK build of the game. https://github.com/philosophofee/SBSPSS

It's a 2D side scroller. Sony generally discouraged those, but by the twilight years of the PS1 they didn't care anymore. I've played both and they're good games although Supersponge being a late PS1 game has a bit of a budget feel to it.

Thank you so much anon. It seems basic enough to make some really cool mods for, given the time and opportunity.

Someone, port this thing to the original Xbox and Wii
For shits and giggles

>source code available so that any chad brainlet can compile their very own PC version
>THQ never okay'd a PC release

Just what the fuck was up with the anti-PC stance publishers adopted in the 2000s, anyway?

Nice. Someone can do a HD remake. Or a James Pond crossover.

It's a late release PS1 budget title, anon. THQ shit it out for a quick buck. The PC had its own Spongecuck games at the time anyway.

Does this actually compile a PC version?
Source code != PC port. You'll have to replace everything that interacts with the PS1 hardware.

Everyone also had a PC, this sort of game would be perfect to run on walmart toasters. It won't even need a 3D accelerator!

You'd need Windows libraries but the graphics and sound would also need to be completely redone in a PC format. Keep in mind that PS1 games were usually written in C++ so the actual specifics of hardware interfacing are invisible to the programmer.

Not really. Unless you like copying data.

It's weird that the models used for the pre-rendered sprites (and that are included in this download) have a really low polycount.

I think that at first they wanted to do the whole game in realtime, but for some reason they decided to use pre-rendered sprites.

No? C++ still has low level access to memory.

It's also easier to port those to the GBA.

Is this anything other than a generic shovelware 2D platformer that looks like it belongs on the GBA?
