So how has /vr/'s hunting been going this weekend? I haven't scored anything so far, but I have found:

>$50 for Donkey Kong Country 3 with box/manual at a Flea Market, told the lady I'd throw in some more cash if she held it for me. Not sure if I should actually buy it, good deal or no?
>$83 for Mega Man 7 cart only with lots of writing, old stickers on it, and visible wear and tear on the label via this craigslist ad: http://fortmyers.craigslist.org/col/vgm/3770590095.html good deal or no?
>40 bucks for Mega Man 2 with NES protector sleeve included at Flea Market, good deal or no?

That last one was being sold by a lady trying to sell Vigelante 8 and WCW No Mercy for like 25 bucks each. Her husband was yelling at her to lower her prices but "she needed to make a profit". That guy married a retard. It's better to cut your losses.

So anyone else find anything good?

>> No.556813

Not flea market, but earlier I today I found a copy of Dracula's Curse w/ protector sleeve for $1,

The seller was not a clever man

dude, nice.

I wish I was that lucky. Seems like I can never find complete steals around here. No matter where I go, pawns, thrifts, flea markets, I just can't find good deals.

>> No.556845

I stopped giving a shit about flea markets once they started checking ebay prices. That and the ones I went to tried to trick sellers. I remember picking up a FF8 case and checking if it had all the discs just to find only disc 3 and a copy of WCW Mayhem in it.

All three of those are way overpriced.

Best of luck to you, but you should pass on deals like those.

It was a yard sale and the guy was selling a whole box of NES games at, and I quote- "a dolla a piece cause they don't look as good as games nowadays". His loss.

I bought the whole box, coming to $8. The only worthwhile game was Dracula's Curse.

The retro vidya booth I found with the couple I mentioned sounded like I was practically their first customer in weeks. I actually flat out told them that they shouldn't expect to get eBay prices and they shouldn't get stock from eBay.

Part of eBay's pricing is fucking convenience. It's easy to search and find something online. going out and looking for it in your town takes time, money, and effort.

She blew me off, but the husband tried to cut me a deal on a couple gamecubes. I told him I wasn't interested.

Too many people think they're going to get rich off of retro vidya, I swear. I feel bad for the guy.

Not a bad win?

I lost my copy back when I moved away from home after high school. I just recently won the US boxed Plutonium Pak as well, which is "kind of" hard to find. Not in an expensive way, just genuinely tough to find at this point because 3D Realms almost immediately switched from the Pak to the full on Atomic Edition.

Anyway, feels pretty good. Now I begin saving my money for when a boxed copy of BLOOD pops up.

I found a PS1 (SCPH-9001 model) with 2 memory cards, 2 dualshock controllers, Power and AV cords, and Tomb Raider III for $5 yesterday at the flea market.

The guy selling it was some arab or indian guy. I must have passed his little stand 4-5 times that day. I just figured he was asking too much for it. He had a bunch of other electronics like GPS', car chargers, Ipod cords, mp3 players, cell phones etc.

So as he was packing up, I was walking by and said screw it, and asked him how much. He got all excited and said "OH! Yes, very good game! Came with 2 controller and memory cards, bunch of cords. I want $10, but for you, $5." Hell yeah I'd pay that. I offered him $10 but he kept saying no, only wanted $5.

I've seen the guy there for years and years, and he's always selling random stuff, so it was neat to actually buy something from him for once. Playstation works too, and it's seriously in the best shape and cleanest one I've ever seen.

Also got a teal GBC from another guy with a copy of Zelda Oracle of Ages for $10. Overall, good day.

Upon further research, the earliest ones with the RCA jacks in the back have the best audio quality.

And to be honest, There's no real point. I just collect consoles, so it's neat to have the different variations. My SCPH-1001 model is the one I play my games on, mainly because of the RCA jacks being convenient. Other than that, like I said, I collect consoles and it's just one more that I didn't have.

I was poring over this issue recently myself; turns out the official Nintendo s-video cable for the Gamecube (backwards compatible with SNES/N64) was only released in America through Nintendo's online shop, and was discontinued a few years ago at the latest (around 2008 I guess?). As such, you are incredibly unlikely to find one in the wild.

However, they were readily available since the SNES days in Japan, so importing is always an option. It's expensive, but it's always there.

Your other option for a high-quality s-video cable is to track down a Monster Cable Gamecube s-video cable, but of course, since it's by Monster, and discontinued, it's generally just as pricey as importing the Nintendo cable from Japan. But you have a higher chance of finding it in the wild, since it was available in store domestically.

Otherwise, you're stuck with the cheapies.

It is especially important when the child has incurred some sort of fiscal liability (broken a window, damaged property). It teaches them responsibility and consequence of action using a methodology that avoids corporal punishment and the potential negative impact that it can have.

Fuck these guys sometimes. I've been to almost every yard sale/flea market/salvation army in my area and all I find are just piles and piles of sports games that everyone is try to sell for $20.

I hate my pawn shop because people bring in huge ass boxes of retro games with awesome titles but the owner picks out every worthwhile game and sells it on ebay.

>> No.571686

First off... fuck pawn shops. I started retro collecting 2600 games back in the 90s, and the first thing I learned was fuck pawn shops.

Second off... fuck flea markets. People there have seen American Pickers and other shows and assume that they're going to sell their junk for over 9000 dollars. Plus, they have the overhead of the whole flea market rental thing.

Third off... keep plugging away at the yard sales. I'm mostly looking for Atari stuff, which is getting rarer and rarer, but I do find it. Make it more fun by picking something else out to collect... I do calculators.

Finally... start going to auctions. Go to auctionzip.com and find some in your area. You'll get the best prices, and your bidding competition is limited to little old ladies and men looking for cheap tools. I've gotten some great stuff by going to auctions.

>> No.575259

Speaking of greedy resellers, at my flea market there is a "store" area where people set up actual shops instead of just making yard sales.

Anyway there is this shop that takes the ebay/amazon prices of these games and then shoots them up 20-80 bucks and I never see another customer in there. He frequently tells me I'm one of his only customers and I try to tell him its because his prices are outrageous but he just refuses to believe me.

>SFC version of Rockman 7 for 90 bucks
>DKC2 for 50 bucks
>Actraiser 2 for 30 bucks

>Model 2 sega genesis for 60
>Pal version of PS1 Mega Man X3 for 100 bucks
>Digimon World 3 for 80 bucks
>The Lion King SNES for 20 bucks

Most of his SNES games are set at 20 no matter what game it is, even shit like F-Zero is 20. Most of his N64 games are 30, even shit like Quest 64 or Turok 2.

Hell, he's selling a Saturn for 140. Who the fuck would buy a Saturn for 140?

and for the record, he considers me a "regular" just to make himself feel better. I stop in maybe twice a month to see if he has new stock and will negotiate down a few things, or if maybe he's lightened up a bit.

So Resident Evil and all the other first run PSX games made by Capcom had this little pamphlet that came inside the longbox called "Get-a-Grip". It pretty much just showed off Capcoms then-current game lineup.

I wonder whether or not the picture of Resident Evil's box was made before or after what we officially got.

Glad they went with the balls out crazy Chris with Bazooka

It's worth about $15-$20 on eBay. You'll probably be able to get more for it online than at your local store. Head to the BST thread and sell it to a /vr/o, why don't you?

My haul from Queensday 2013

Tetris and The Simpsons Bart & The Beanstalk together for €1

MediEvil: Resurrection for €5 and Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles (still sealed) for €15

Not in the picture a copy of Max Payne 2 I got for €0,50 cents, that same seller also had a Pearl White Gamecube that was only used once or twice since he preferred the XBOX.

Said he'd sell it for €20,- went to the ATM to get the money and when I went back to his stand it was already sold. Should have told him to keep it back for me. Oh well.

How did I do?

I stay away from flea markets like the plague. What you want are yard/garage sales.

I get all my yard gnomes and retro games there for obscenely cheap prices.
>>576116
The only good buys at goodwill I've ever seen are books. I got several copies of John Peel's diadem books for about a buck at a time when they were selling for ~$40 a piece due to being out of print.

I'm still convinced that everyone being so interested in getting a hold of them to resell them is why he started writing more of them.

Advice please. I saw this game at Goodwill not really knowing the value of it. They wanted 3 dollars for it and reasonable price seems to be 9 dollars for it CiB. When I checked it out the condition was basically perfect with some minor ware since it was used. Should I pick it up or jut skip it altogether?

To be honest I don't really want it myself but maybe it's better than it looks? The screenshots on that back didn't impress me so what do you think?
