Can I get a quick rundown on why this game is considered the worst of the Soulblazer series? I never played it, does it also have a weird twist?

Eh, it's just because people like Soul Blazer and Terranigma more, so it's at the bottom of the 3 by default. It doesn't really mean it's a bad game though. For me, they complete the Quintet Triangle of action/hot jams, childhood adventure, and themes of life.

>> No.5636031

Its plot is hippie-dippy, it lacks the Sim City aspect, and some of the puzzles are truly asinine

Why isn't ActRaiser considered part of the "canon"?

>> No.5636325

>>5636302
Because act raiser is a side scroller sim game where you play as a god with no emphasis on story. The soul blazer trilogy is a top down action rpg with light puzzles and light plot. So they are completely different...

>> No.5636332

>>5636302
Quintet themselves consider the trilogy to be Actraiser, Soul Blazer and Gaia.

I wish there was more art made for the US, the art used in the US manuel is really cute but only Will and Kara were fortunate enough to get illustrations.

Anyway, it's kind of sad to see the game is now remembered as "the worst game in the Gaia series", at least that's how it seems whenever I see it discussed.. I haven't played the other two games, or three or even four depending on who you ask, but it's sad to me to see it always seems like people ignore it despite being a still solid game.
>>5636335
Not at all, the gave was pretty heavily advertised even by Nintendo themselves and sold a solid 650,000 units. It was never a system seller but it was at worst still a cult classic.
>>5636892
In all honesty the story doesn't make much more sense even in the Japanese version. The US and PAL versions suffered from censorship but as far as plot elements go there was nothing seriously lost. No matter what language it's in the plot is still really abstract and sort goofy.

Really cool Illusion of Gaia speedrun competition.
I think speedrunning jrpgs is kinda dumb, but for action/puzzle rpgs that require precise execution and routing it makes a lot of sense.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AS0ggAc2QwQ

Specially if the runs are around 2 or 3 hours max.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AS0ggAc2QwQ

Watching a 9 hour turn-based rpg speedrun is dumb and goofy though
