Actually it should be 'The Tone Rebellion'. The team that did Ascendancy attempted to make a Dune 2 style strategy game with aliens based on a purely alien world. Kind of funky but looks great for the time.

Haven't really looked into much for IBM-PC compatibles. I know there's Princess Maker 2 and Rusty, which have some very good FM Synth music for DOS games, but I kinda expect higher quality FM Synth compositions from Japan anyway.
