Could they re-release the game on steam or do you guys konami would never do that? Or is it too similar to blade runner?

Amazing game that I thought was gay and overrated until I played it. Have barely played Policenauts, but looking forward to it.

Konami is desperate for money, but they are not smart. It's not similar enough to Blade Runner, but Konami will probably use that reason to avoid releasing it because they are out of touch.

Underwhelming and poorly written. I like it all the same but it wasn't as good as I was expecting.

I played it on a sega emulator or something. Its decent and atmospheric but it turns into a visual novel 3/4 of the way in while the begining is obviosly an adventure game.

I also love games where you have a phonw and can dial numbers

>> No.5624926

Could have used an editor, both works.

>> No.5624934

They're both decent but perfect examples of games that should've been movies or comics, books even.

>> No.5624941

No chance. Konami basically wants nothing to do with video games anymore, at least inhouse development. Allowing publishing rights is more of a side project while they continue to refocus the company. They're additionally likely to never acknowledge anything that had Kojima attached to it.

>> No.5624969

God Policenauts sucks! It's like a really bad Visual Novel. And I don't know, seriously, VN are like the easiest thing in the world to design. So when you design a bad one, that is remarkable.

Like the entire story of Policenaughts is not only a pixel hunt, but you basically have to try everything, and then try everything multiple times. So if you don't know this, like if you want to know about some photograph, you ask about the photograph, and she tells you something, and then you have to ask the same topic again. So that photograph entry can occur 3 or 4 times. And then you have to start from the beginning and try them all again because the third time might have opened something new up. And you have to exhaust every single option. ALL OF THEM. Before the game will let you move on. That is HORRIBLE.

It's not like an oldschool adventure game. Because in an adventure game you don't have to look at and inspect everything on the screen multiple times. You're just sitting there, desperately wanting to move on with the plot, and then you're stuck trying to inspect every little thing over and over again, and asking people the same questions over and over again. Ah it's bad. And when it finally gets exciting, it gets exciting for 20 seconds then you're right back at it.

Is the plot interesting? Not really. You know what the story is? It is 5% Blade Runner, 95% Lethal Weapon. It's straight up Riggs and Murtaugh. It's not even subtle. He rips off whole scenes. It's amazing.

It's funny because it's sort of true. I feel the "20 secs of excitement at a time"

Death stranding will be his magnum opus

>> No.5624997

Release it for 15 or 20 bucks on steam as an "hd" collection and its basically money with little investment. Im not sure why that would be a bad idea.

Are they really that out of touch with the market?

>5% Blade Runner, 95% Lethal Weapon.

Oh that's freaking great. What would 5% Blade Runner with 95% Lethal Weapon movie look like? Would there be a random scene in the movie where Murtaugh is like" I'm getting to old fore this shit... Now computer, enhance scene".?

They've never released Snatcher on any digital store. Not even on the Japanese VC (which had most of Konami's PC Engine catalog when it was still active) nor was it ever on Project EGG. I'm assuming it's because of rights issues (and also because Kojima disowns all the later versions that were made without his involvement).

The PS1 version of Policenauts is on the Japanese PSN though.

I remember getting this flayer with my Sega Saturn in 1996, I was so hyped that Po9licenauts was coming to the North American market, I already had a copy of Snatcher for the Sega CD, which I purchased for like $20-30 dollars, and it was one of my favorite games at the time. Mostly because I have never seen a story driven game like this. I can only imagine that the Sega Saturn localization would have been done by the same people that did the localization for Snatcher. Bummer it never happened, even though Sega advertised the game in their flyers.

>Could they re-release the game on steam or do you guys konami would never do that?
Well we know for sure Konami isn't making new games, and is releasing old games. It could definitely be re-released as apart of some package, but that is all I can see.
>Or is it too similar to blade runner?
Are you asking is it too similar to blade runner to be re-released? I mean Kojima explicitly stated it was heavily inspired from Blade Runner, so there is no denying that is similar to it. Would that cause it not to be re-released? I would think the opposite, and that drawing force for it being similar is why most people pick it up.

Aged extremely bad but, at their time, they were the best "multimedia" adventures out there, mostrly because the everybody was learning how to make good fmv adventures that weren't QTE fuckfest or extremely cringy.

>Could they re-release the game on steam or do you guys konami would never do that?

Probably people already did, but Konami is going to ask a gazillion dolla for these licenses... for a game that can be remade in flash and has zero replay value. Probably it would sell because people are fucking stupid.

That genre is dead, better leave be.

I wonder how DS will turn out. Will it be The Gods of Us: Kojima Edition? The game is hilariously overbudget and overdue, seems like most of the money was spent casting the actors and going golfing with them, then producing two fuckwit trailers, and showing rudimentary gameplay before Sony stepped their foot down and told him to finish it. I'm not expecting to see Sony fund another game of his.

Just started emulating Snatcher Sega CD version and it is awesome. I always use Look and Investigate constantly to see all the flavor text and the Chief scolded me about it. Also spent a good while reading all the database in Jordan.

My plan is to play Policenauts afterwards.

What game do you guys like more Snatcher or Policenauts? ´

Snatcher has so many versions out there, and they came out more then half a decade after the initial release, I never looked into the versions outside of the soundtracks.

This is my favorite Snatcher track that I've come across, I like it way more than any of hte Sega-CD tracks.

The game only came out once in the west, right, on Sega CD? Pretty sure it was a bomb too. I imagine that Konami has no idea that fans even care about snatcher outside of the west. >Why is the Saturn version better than the PS one?

Both the Sega Saturn and PS1 ports of the game are based on the Sega CD version. They use the same extended third act, and even delocalize the english dialog back to Japanese with a few modifications.

The Sega Saturn port is less censored than the PS1 port, it brings back some of the sex stuff from the PCE CDROM version, plus blood and gore is less censored.

The PS1 Port has the most censorship, and the blood and gore get mosaicked out in a black and white palatalization style. But the pS1 port isn't worse in every way. It does have mouse and lightgun support, while the Saturn port of Snatcher has neither. The PS1 port does feature nicer sounding audio as well. And has a bit more animation on sprites. The PS1 port is also rare to find, while the Saturn port is much more common.
