A recent discovery in Doom 64 allows youto warp from one of the secret maps (The Lair) instantly to the credits. This is my final product speedrun using this. Doom 64 is now the fastest full game run of any of the major retro Doom games. When I first picked this game up in 2014, the fastest completion of Watch Me Die was 1 hour 8 minutes in real time by peaches. With the aid of many new glitches, improved routing, and better skill, the warpless record run now is 36:58 real time (32:32 IGT) and the warped run is less than half that now. I am happy to have given this game the attention it deserves for being by far the best console Doom game. Hope you all enjoy the run.

tl;dr there's a mod for Half Life 1 called Half-Life: Absolute Zero that recreates the entire game's alpha for use in the original game as well as Xash3D. Literally right now I'm playing through Demons of Problematique and there's a setpiece where all I have is a shotgun and a level starts with THREE barons riding your ass. Nothing encourages you to move your buns through the level as fast as you can quite like that, which I think was the intended effect.

I made a tiny mod for Heretic using Decorate. It increases the firing speed for all weapons but reduces the max amount of ammo you can carry as well, that and other changes to try and balance things out (All changes are shown in the text file)

I made it since I feel the enemies are a little bullet spongy and found the pace of the game was a bit slow because of it but I didn't want too much of the game changed, I also wanted to figure out how decorate works and what I could do with it.

There's a caged-out section near the end with a pool of blood. There is room of crushers in front of it leading to the exit and a corridor of crushers leading to the begining.
When you hug the grate of the cage from inner side, crushers stop.

In E5M6, on the raised walkway in the cyberdemon room you'll eventually see an evil eye. Shoot it, and once you're at room with the cacodemon and green armor you get before teleporting in the baron cage, another room will have opened up with the secret exit. Hope this helps.

I dunno if that guy who tore me a new asshole a few days ago is still here, but I've been thinking about a means of addressing the fucked up melee power difference between Blaz and Doomslayer.
If I spread the damage out of Blaz's combo so it starts stronger but doesn't spike up as high as it does at the end of the combo, it'll mean he'll be capable of killing wimpy enemies with a single blow, while also making sure tougher monsters still need some work to bring down, plus if I increase the pause between Doomslayer's sword swipes, it'll mean he's still capable of one shotting weak enemies too, he's just not as fast or efficient as Blaz. I'll be tweaking his quickfire melee too, make it so you can't chain the swipes together as quickly but still able to animation cancel and all that good shit.
Have an update to this art so far too, I've cleaned up the dithering on a few spots and I feel like that was the right call. Nearly done with the Bomber Knight, still need to figure out what last monster is gonna be.

I got around to playing the first few maps in sigil, and so far I don't see the difficulty complaints. In not 100% pro strat zero deaths gamer man or anything, but it seems fair for ultra violence. The thing most "HD MOD" guys do not understand is that game's visuals should be either properly stylized OR be at the same universal level of fidelity in all areas to look good.

High fidelity textures do not look good on low fidelity structures/models.
High fidelity structures/models don't look good with low fidelity textures plastered on them
High poly models need to have good animation

TES mods look fine because the difference between model fidelity and texture is not as large as in Doom's case, or they update the models too to fit the bill.

Minecraft's aestethic are really weird so having GOOD high-res textures (of which there are very few) does not look all that weird compared to the rest of the game (though I still preferred stylised 32x or 64x packs when i still played it)

If you've played TNT before, most 90's community wads were similar to that. Generally not much harder than Doom 2, slow-moderate pacing in most levels, and difficulty increases very steadily.

Actually, the opposite.

Quake 1's development was this weird mess where it was gonna be an open world fantasy RPG, except Romero, who was going to be driving the development of this ambitious game he had in mind, really didn't, and development stalled a lot (didn't help that Carmack was actually struggling to figure out how to make proper 3D rendering work, mind this was in the days before hardware acceleration and graphics cards).
It was decided later that Quake's development really wasn't working out, and all they had to show for it was an engine that was eventually ready, along with a bunch of textures and models, so since deadline was uncomfortably close, it was decided by majority that they'd just take what they had and transform it into something they knew, a shooter, to have a game done for deadline, the idea being to go for something more ambitious later.

Romero hated this direction, which is why he opted to leave (depending on who you ask, he was also fired), but he did finish his work on Quake.
Quake 2 was started after Romero left, and though it actually wasn't a more ambitious and imaginative direction like they had promised themselves with Quake 1's compromise (aside from more technically more advanced graphics and gameplay), this time there really was a serious focus on what they wanted to do, and it shows. Quake 2 feels much more coherent, and it feels like it has a beginning and an end, with bossfights and everything, compared to Quake 1 just kind of starting and stopping awkwardly at places.

As for everything feeling wobbly and weird, it's probably because Quake 2 was still vertex animated like Quake, but had more advanced and defined models, and this just looks weird. There's a reason skeletal animations (see Half-Life) have reigned supreme, they're just way easier to animate with and produce way better results.
