Can YouTube delete the sound from my videos of letsplaying SIGIL with Buckethead soundtrack? The video editing page says something about that the video cannot be monetized because it contains copyrighted soundtrack, so I'm afraid they could remove the sound. Should I make another letsplay with midi then?

I know BABEL Bro posts on here so I'm gonna ask something.

Can you figure out what's making BABEL break Dark Universe pt.1 , removing all friendly NPC's and spawning in enemies early?

Hideous Destructor somehow didn't break Dark Universe so badly, and HD, babel and hard doomm seem like a match made in heaven with dark Universe.

>Robin Williams was the original lead developer of Doom and the founder of id Software. He wanted to create a fucking good first person shooter, so he gathered the team of game developers and programmers. One of the guys he recruited were John Romero and John Carmack. Williams became friends with Romero and Carmack. One weekend the guys when out for a drink. John Romero put a roofie into Robin Williams' drink. When Robin Williams couldn't defend himself anymore, Carmack and Romero raped him together. Romero fucked his ass, Carmack fucked his mouth.

If he released it for free people would have tempered their expectations and appreciated for what it was - an old master trying to get back into the game.

Instead, with all of this hype and marketing and a fucking Buckethead soundtrack, people expect a modern professional product which this certainly isn't. Romero should have just released Sigil for free as an exercise for himself and as advertisment for Blackroom or whatever it is now.

Repost because wrong thread last time:
What the fuck is up with the final level of Sigil?
If you destroy one of the two bosses you win instantly (defeating the point of spawning in two at once), alternatively you can just run to the teleporter a few feet away and win that way as well.
Was he in that much of a hurry to finish it? It felt like it ended out of nowhere.

>I don't even remember Romero hyping Sigil up that much as something THAT AMAZING. We got that 1 video + the dev streams.
That's because he didn't. The hype came from dipshits who never played a Romero map that wasn't in E1, and they're the same ones who are angry now because they don't know how Romero does difficulty. If you play Perfect Hatred, Against Thee Wickedly, The Abandoned Mines, and The Living End, SIGIL is right in line with all of those. Dark, claustrophobic maps that don't shy away from heavy caco and baron usage and commonly feature narrow walkways with damaging floors beneath them. The one thing I won't defend in SIGIL is the crusher maze in E5M4. That's some outright bullshit. It'd be fine if they were normal crushers and not the guaranteed death variant. Even if you use the invulnerability secret, it only buys you enough time to make one mistake at best. Playing by vanilla rules, being even slightly off in timing gets you killed with no chance of escape. It's complete nonsense that places E5M4 solidly at the bottom of the set. Asylum of the Wretched. It's a pretty fucked mod. Horror themed, fighting back is pretty much a bad idea until you get decently kitted further down the line, and even then it's tough.

If you start with 23 health and an empty pistol, you're running it right. You need to punch the guard and get him to open the door. If not, try an earlier version of GZDoom.

I haven't tried in a while but iirc it's very easy to make it seem like it's broken.

Beating it did genuinely feel like an accomplishment, even with my shitty grades.

Another example. It's absolutely black in this room, but you can still make out the level geometry and even see the armor on the right even though it's not in its fullbright frame. I think this was designed much more around vanilla, 1993 Doom than you'd expect from Romero's regular endorsement of more modern hardware-accelerated ports. I'm also playing with autorun off (like it would be in vanilla, where autorun didn't even exist) and it's made the narrow walkways and E5M4 crusher maze so much easier. This isn't a modern community wad and you shouldn't play it like one. We're back in almost-horror Doom instead of balls to the wall action Doom.

Then he lets you know that a fairly well-knon artist was comissioned for the theme song. Then he lets you pre-order the physical releases (one of which totals $166). Then you clock that he is selling actual T-Shirts, USB sticks and a big box for a DOOM LEVEL PACK.

If you hate Sigil it's your fault.
It's the real fifth episode we've been waiting for with tons of epic metal and based Baphomet imagery
Anyone who thinks it should contain "more space" or "better lighting" has clearly fell for the joke of "modern level design" that people falsely attribute to Doom.
Complete Horse hockey!
Doom grew harder because the levels became cramped and dark and hard to navigate with abstract labryinths avoiding monster closets.
Sigil ( or as I now refer to it as Episode 5) perfectly follows up on Thy Flesh Consumed doubling down on everything taboo to give a big middle finger to these faux id style WADS and overrated map packs like Evilternity, Ancient Aliens, and NOVA 2.
I'm glad he charged money for this expansion and only regret that there wasn't a free version or possibly DRM like denuvo to keep shitters like youtubers from talking shit on things they don't understand.
You just expected one of these over designed clusterfuck levels some autistic Doomworld edgelord made to show their too lazy to learn proper 3D design.
John didn't do that and he's pretty woke for that, and his obsession with Baphomet and Satan just shows how cool he is to go against modern trends.

I know what kind of Doom maps Romero can do, I've seen his 90s ones, and I've seen his modern ones, I know fully well what to expect from him, I never expected him to approach the best of what the community itself has built over the years.

Asking as someone who probably won't play SIGIL until I slowly finish the current WAD I'm playing; people have been talking about it as "the fifth DOOM episode," but is it explicitly based on DOOM1 assets? Does it have any of the DOOM2 enemies, super shotgun, etc., or just pure DOOM1 enemies? I honestly don't know if I want to go back to fighting barons without the SSG.

Yeah, if Romero announced yesterday that he made some maps as 5th episode and released it the day after it would've been fine. It was salt in the wound, a DNF effect. If DNF released a year after announcement the shitstorm surrounding it wouldn't have even been there, but since you had to wait 12 goddamn years people were rightly pissed.
I'm not saying it's bad, I'm just a tad disappointed even if I didn't pay for the box set (which was said to be the only way to get the BH soundtrack but lo and behold you can just buy it digitally now.)

People got taken in by the fact that there was a whole big collector's edition and assumed they were getting basically a "new Doom game"

Even though it was stated pretty plainly that it's basically just an addendum to Doom 1, and that its only 9 maps as its meant to be the length of a Doom episode.

You could argue that maybe Romero shouldn't have had a whole special box for it, but I don't think he was being dishonest about what Sigil was meant to be.

Big. Fucking. This.

The so called modern design made me sick of Doom lately. It's not Doom anymore, just a scatterbrained hodgepodge by no lifes who think "awesum detiels" make good levels.

If you play horseshit like BShiTX, Ancient Failiens, Sundust or Eviturdnity, you quickly realise their mappers are no real designers, just third rate hobbyists. 10 levels in, and you still play the exact same level just with a geometry change. No progression, no sense of place, just some ugly details and weird colors in clusterfuck Unrealesque areas.

Sigil is different. Every level has its own distinct look, they progress, they look interesting, people can memorize them easily. And Romero doesn't need 250 revenants to make his levels hard, a single caco can kick your butt if you catch him unprepared.

The problem is in the original doom they were meat shields to prevent you from progressing and forcing you to backpedal.

Doom 2016's design means monsters can do none of that, and as a result pinkies have no place except to, like every other monster, convince you to keep moving.

This is kinda why I say Doom 2016 isn't as much of a doom game as even something like Doom 3. Enemies aren't obstacles, they're keys and points to be collected. Imps will straight up run out of your path rather than restrict it.
Even doom 3 got this right, despite stripping out all of the action and direct empowerment aspects in exchange for fancy graphics. Enemies were still obstacles. You had to fight around or through them to progress.
Doom 2016 locks the doors and forces you to survive in a box.

China won't make mods illegal outside their goal.
They will make games even worse than they currently are, though, because the Chinese have AWFUL fucking taste in all forms of media. China is the reason Hollywood has been getting even worse, quite a few studios just aim for Chinabux at this point and that's why garbage like Bayformers keeps getting sequels. Do you guys actually remember what Duke 3D was like?

>clearly designed to be a place rather than a fun videogame level
>first person platforming over instant death pits
>first person platforming over instant death pits but the area you are standing is sloped so it does that build engine thing

>the first enemy you meet can fly
>can fly in the first level which is infinitely tall for no reason
>switch puzzles
>no direct sequel, just two rushed expansions which reuse levels

A game like Duke Nukem (like Ion Maiden) or a sequel in the original style would be a breath of fresh air. There are 3 hitscan enemies (including the miniboss and excluding the boss). That's the same amount as Doom 2. And mini Battlelords are actually way more rare than Chaingunners.
>>seriously, second enemy you meet, who is a hitscanner, can't even be taken down with one shotgun blast, normally takes three
It only takes 2 shotgun blasts to kill a pig cop, maybe you have shit aim.

They're way more memorable than other FPS's of the time, due to the representationalism. Duke Burger is a burger shop, Red Light District is the porn shop / strip club, etc.

Speaking of Duke Nukem, god damn, just beat the first level of Alien Armageddon and it's easily the best DN3D map I've ever played. The level design is really large-scale and non-linear yet never confusing. There's a lot of new sprites/textures, but they fit in perfectly with the stock textures and Duke Nukem tone. Some are downright hilarious. And there's so many new NPC's with full animation & rotations, there must be a really talented/dedicated artist involved. There's a few new enemies in the mix too, but they're not annoying/redundant crap like custom monsters usually are. They serve specific, balanced purposes and are used reasonably. There's even a few fancy improvements like footsteps that vary based on terrain. The whole thing is just so awesome.

Abaddon's Void (E5M5) is a really amazing hellish remake of Downtown, isn't it?

what's the latest version of GZDoom compatible with 1st gen core-era integrated graphics?

Not really. Downtown was a culmination of Sandy's experiments relating to infighting stuff (like in, you know, Doom1's finall bossfight, when pistolstarted - or Fortress of Mystery - or Sandy's version of Dead Simple which got substituted for McGee's - or Tricks&Traps - again, all of these on pistolstart). That's its whole idea. On one hand, there is a convenient arrow (in itself a reference to E3M2), which you can follow, and, provided you pistolstart on UV, have a pretty abysmal time. On the other hand,
yeeeeeah
uh-huh
that's right
the whole block.
Then you clear out the adjacent buildings, suit up, and then you, okay, okay, fiiiine, chadstep along the damn arrow.

>> No.5613821

>>5613729
On the other hand, yeah, it could be Romero's spin on Downtown. Like, what? E5M7? contains segments clearly, how do I say it, '"supplanting'" Chasm (seeing that Sigil is D1's episode and Chasm is D2's map). God Forbid Sandy invented whatsoever in Doom. Honestly astonishing e1m8b didn't have a secret reachable with rocketjump only - or did I simply miss it? Missing the entire point of it, but that's Romero for you. After all, Industrial Zone used the aforementioned arrow-painted-on-the-ground LITERALLY - instead of figuratively (and ironically), as in Downtown itself.

What port are you using? In GZDoom hit tilde, the key to left of 1 on your keyboard, and then type "map mapXX" where XX is the map number. If you're in PrBoom+ or chocolate-doom, just type idclevXX anywhere, much like the idkfa cheat. Again, replace XX with the map number. If you're in a mapset that uses episodes, like anything for Doom 1, then the command changes a bit.
Again, get to the console in GZDoom by hitting tilde, and then type "map eXmYY" where X is the episode number and YY is the actual map. To use the idclev cheat type "idclev XY", where, again, X is the episode number and Y is the map number.
Protip: in GZDoom use listmaps in the console to list all maps with their names. It will also tell you what wad everything is from.

No one's saying that. Blood is a pretty amazing game no matter the port, but when reviewing SPECIFICALLY the quality of the port it's pretty damn important to mention inaccuracies. Sure they're going to fix it, but we've had ports like BloodGDX and NBlood that've already had stuff like that down pat.
If they did a "fresh" review of the game then fine, reviewing it as a good game is valid, but when you've already reviewed the game and are now reviewing a port of it, you can't disregard shit like that.
>supporting Nightdive

Java is good in fact, since it can run on anything that runs Java, which is pretty much anything these days.
Bitches who don't know shit are complaining because
a) author is Russian (and complainers are prejudiced fucks)
b) they fear Java exploits (even though JRE is most likely already installed on their machines and running a port made on it makes no difference for their security)
c) they are pissy about it not being open source (despite it being open for quite some time)

and any other number of stupid reasons.

Anyway.
NBlood still has some minor inacuracies, but is most accurate visually.

It's a problem when everything else is so safe. In fact the only really interesting standout thing I've seen this game has is the automap.
It's also a problem when they don't even bother to take a default doom style arsenal and then not even attempt to give it it's own personality, I'd be fine with no new mechanics but when the weapons are so stock that's a massive downer for me.
The weapons of an FPS are the real stars and when you're not even attempting to do anything cool with them I feel like the rest of the game is gonna have the same blandness throughout.

My biggest complaint with modern "retro shooters" is that they don't take one of the biggest draws of the genre. That being the amazing graphics these games had at the time. I'm not expecting something Battlefield level I just want something that makes me go "wow." Doom 2016 did that but didn't take that much from retro shooters. It's either "go fully retro down to the graphics" or "get god tier graphics and compromise on the gameplay." I mean even the modern shadow warrior games can be very easily beaten by slashing your sword around, and has fuck all guns (at least in the first one) but hey, they look great!
Prodeus caught my attention and then immediately lost it when I saw the shit graphical style.

Join the slayers club and get POINTS for sending in content, anon! You can trade them in for SUPER POINTS at some point! Amass enough SUPER POINTS and Bethesda will give you a 50x50 jpg of Doomguy not looking at the camera.
Fucking worth it.
