Why is this game as expensive as it is?

Is it because of Pewdiepie?

>> No.560796

It's expensive cause it's comparatively rare and in pretty high demand.

Why does PDP have anything to do with it?

I've seen about 15 copies on ebay boxed and complete and they're all asking for £100+. Other games like mischief makers have fewer boxed copies and go for less.

God, no. It's because it's a unique jewel of a game, with very passable graphics for early 3D, that everyone says is absolutely hilarious (didn't find it that funny myself, although I did enjoy the writing mostly,) and which basically ties together all of the great Rareware N64 games with added swearing and cartoon blood.

I went into it not knowing much about it kind of hoping it was a Banjo Kazooie type platformer, what I got was more like an adventure game with platforming elements

Which would be FINE, except a lot of the humor was extremely hit or miss to me and a lot of the charm wore thin once you start getting closer and closer to the ending

But I did play it in 2001. I was only eleven but I loved it so much (along with Banjo-Kazooie, DK64 and Diddy Kong Racing) that I wanted to make a pilgrimage to the Rareware headquarters (about six miles away) to thank them for all they'd done and hopefully get given some sweet merchandise.

In retrospect I'm glad I spared myself the disappointment. I was genuinely imagining a huge building with a rotating Rare logo on a plinth in front of it. Because, y'know, people were playing these video games all over the world! A tiny office full of sleep-deprived people eating Super Noodles would have crushed me.

I wish Conker had stayed as Twelve Tales. BFD gets old rather quick. The humor is pretty bad. I mean, it's a nice idea and it's done well in some aspects, but then after an hour you end up in an area composed of literal shit, where you fight a giant shit monster, and you have to get cows to shit themselves (and then they explode), all while music in the background plays with shit noises, and it's like, really?

I honestly believe Conker's Bad Fur Day has some of the best writing that was ever put into a video game. I think it is really easy for some people to dismiss it as "potty humor", but the more you dig around in the story, the more you find it is pretty much taking a post-modern view of video gaming at the time (and by that I mean CBFD regularly points out video game conventions or interacts with them humorously). I honestly consider it as an entire package to be one of the best games ever. It is reaches the level of "art" for me.

Now that said, CBFD does have flaws. The swimming parts are brief but tedious. And as a whole, it does nothing really spectacularly well gameplay wise, but it is solid through out.
