I actively avoided it too cause of all the hype it got, I got around to playing it after I played carrier air wing/US Navy its a good game and I like it because its different from everything else. I think most prerendered 3-D looks gross. It can be ok for backgrounds but for characters it just looks bad to me. The Donkey Kong Country looks like literal poop to me. It plays fine and has great music tho.
