Not very, because the illusory imps aren't solid, so I didn't have to set up the bits that make them appear without clipping into the parent imp. They could just... walk out.

Also, new update! Pain elementals are less of jerks, but more of jerks at the same time! 75% of lost souls are homing missiles that selfdestruct on you, but they run and hide on the other side of the map before spitting them- and actual lost souls that summon monsters- out at you. They're both aggressive seige units that hate you, but they understand how much they like living.

Also, if you're good enough with strafing, you can make two suicide souls slam into eachother and both explode.

IIRC I still have the PC files on my comp. I figured how to run it on Win7, but the screen is a clusterfuck because 7 uses DirectDraw which is needed to be turned off. I tried running it on a Win98 Virtual Machine with no luck.

It's a clusterfuck abomination I succesfully created over the course of 3 years of struggling to get it working.

It has all the files, but has got duplicated files and extra stuff. If you have XP you may be able to run the game if you turn off DirectDraw in Windows, set the compatibility to 95-98, Run in 640x480 and in the configuration you put a tick at Max Resolution or something like that.

There were plenty of reasonable people that didn't care or even found it funny. But the faggots yelled the loudest, and you decided to give up the project because of them.

I can understand if you're preoccupied with other shit now, but it really is a shame that you decided to give it up for such a small if you thought you could bring the project to completion. There were plenty of people interested in mapping courses that were just waiting on a set of mapping guidelines that they could follow. The project will still go on, but it's going to take longer for it to get done and it's future is a lot less certain.

If you came back to it and delivered a finished product I can all but guarantee that the previous drama surrounding the project would be forgotten. There are still plenty of people that would be willing to work with you for the parts you want help on (sounds, sprites, courses, etc.) but whether or not you choose to pursue Doomkart again is entirely up to you.

For me personally it's lack of experience; I literally never touched acs before ~3 weeks ago and have almost no programming experience prior to that. I have the time and inclination to learn, and am picking it up fast (from what it seems so far ACS is babbycode), but any number of more important things could suck up my freetime and then my involvement is done. Also given my lack of experience it's going to take me longer to do things than someone that already knows how to code.

So, about dat SPEESH MUHREEN game...

Apparently it was released primarily on the 3DO, and then it was ported for the PC, Saturn and Playstation

These files are what I could obtain from the PC version linked in this very thread, they're mostly textures and nothing else. Dragon UnPacker couldn't recognize most of the files and the only ones that I could get a hold of were the .iff ones. Some of the files included in the PC version apparently have something to do with a 3DO file format which is used for storing images

Now, if I could get a hold of the PS version and try to rip the game using my old 3D ripping tools, MAYBE then I would be able to grab the muhreen sprites. But this is pretty much what I could do for the moment, so there you go guys

Holy shit, I worked on a wad like that before! Like, the exact same thing! You're an imp created by the Gatekeeper as he was dying. He used all his last energy and sacrificed himself to create you. Because of that, you have some sort of magic mimetic power. You can only start by clawing and spitting fire, but when you touch marine weapons you can start imitating their effects with magic. You start in hell, which has been invaded by marines who started installing bases here and there. You then go through human cities, and at the end of course, the UAC headquarters. The final boss is Doomguy but I never really thought about how the final fight would go. Doomguy getting killed doesn't seem right, but making the player die at the end ain't cool ever.

Currently playing through DOOM for the first time, the Xbox live version. I played it as a kid (I'm 30), the Mac demo first when it came out, and later a bit of the PSX version my buddy had and then I rented the N64 version, but I never played any of them all the way through.

Gotta say it's a blast. I forgot how FAST this game is, Jesus. I was running around at first and thought it was fast, then I hit the Sprint button and goddamn, it's like you're on a Hayabusa in this game! Games today are nowhere near as fast.

I gotta say Knee Deep in the Dead was good, if a little easy and boring at times. Great atmosphere and sense of dread though. I'm currently most of the way through episode II. I'm already enjoying the increased challenge of this episode compared to the first. In fact, the only times I've died so far are from the floor/ceiling traps, which I find incredibly cheap. Once, I got smashed in one and didn't die, and was stuck there and had to reload my save from the previous level, I couldn't restart the current one. Pretty annoying.

I just love all the sprites, the SFX, the feel, everything about it. Gives me many nostalgic feels, but also this game just holds up so well, even in the era of HALODUTY. After I complete this I want to look into the PC version and the whole world of WADs. Only reason I haven't yet is I already had the XBL version from a few years ago, bought it on a whim and never played it until now.

Anyway, just sharing my perspective, pleb though it may be.

My first experience with DOOM was also the 360 version, as I grew up with Duke Nukem 3D when I was a kid. For being on a console, I would say it's one of the better ports of the game, though I'm kind of picky about the music now. Since there's no vertical axis to worry about, I also thought it was really comfortable with two analog sticks. I absolutely loved it my first time through, and I was really disappointed that no one was playing on Live by the time I got it.

I now play on PC, Steam copies set up with source ports and a separate folder for Doomseeker, and I always enjoy playing the base games or PWADS from the DOOM Megapack in the OP (which you should really grab) every night before I go to sleep. I guess the point is that the 360 version is a good starting point if you're on console, and it's always nice to see someone discovering and enjoying DOOM for the first time.

The hud is entirely fucked now, but the pistol now shoots heavier, and is much more accurate than any weapon save the BFG or rocket launcher!
Also, Pistol, Chaingun, Plasma rifle, and BFG all use different types of ammo, now.

I also made the plasma rifle pretty insane (and ammo-hungry, since the BFG is now using a different ammo type), so I'm not sure if I should change it back or not. So I'll definitely need feedback.

The BFG is now a big green rocketshotgun!

Does more damage than the standard BFG, but it's limited in that it doesn't hit, y'know, everything on the screen. Instead it just shoots a bunch of sparkling bolts that explode on enemies- or bounce once on a wall, and *then* explodes on enemies.

It doesn't use cells at all.

BFGs use a unique ammo type known as nuclear cores for power, as anon asked me to separate the ammo types. Every box of cells in the game has a 1 in 5 chance of being nuclear core(s), or a 4 in 5 chance of being a power cell.

Similarly, boxes of bullets have a 1 in 5 chance of dropping pistol magazines (though they're not really magazines since you don't have to reload, but still), though zombiemen will always drop pistol magazines, and chaingunners will always drop chainguns/bullets.

- Every single map removed, except for MAP33
- MAP33 renamed to HAK01
- _DEUTEX_ and UNTITLED lumps were removed
- Empty namespaces (P2, F3...) removed.

Some notes:
- TEXTURE1 and PNAMES were left alone, because I don't know if he made any new textures or not.
- The mod DOES work with Ultimate Doom now.
- If a texture or sprite looks like it was taken from Doom2, Let me know. Chances are it was either taken from Freedoom or it was modified and it is easily swappable for a Freedoom texture.

Also, who the fuck makes a ZDoom wad in DeHackEd and not DECORATE?

Multiple sectors can have the same ID to define where the sector goes.

Eh, it's hardly be torture if you planned the thing out. If it's just a circular spiral staircase, all you do is make sure each of the stair sectors have a separate tag, and that each control sector has the appropriate height assigned to it.

The best way I could think to do it is to map out one set of stairs normally, call it the rotation or something. Make note of the total span of height in that entire rotation - so say, if you have 16 steps of 8 height each, you have 128 height in each rotation. Then, when you make your control sectors, make sure that each overlapping control sector (That is, control sectors that occupy the same step space while lying on different heights) are spaced by 128 units of floor height difference. Things should line up fine after that as long as you keep track of your control sectors.

Not sure if this gif will show properly since it was being screwy in photoshop, but I've made icons for the remaining spells and changed necromancy to make a cool pillar of smoke when the target is resurrected. In addition, resurrected enemies are translucent, and you can only resurrect them twice before they fade out of existence entirely!

As before, taking any suggestions for cool spells. So hit me with your best shot, if I can figure out a way to do it I'll put it in.

Its not so much the prettiness and layout that makes me like Sunder. Its the fact that the slaughter gameplay actually feels playtested and balanced. Its maps actually require a strategy to complete them. The prettiness is just a bonus.

SF2011 and SF2012 are full of mappers who seem to just make arenas and splash monsters everywhere without thinking, resulting in plenty of maps that are purely luck based and generally tedious and boring. Infinite BFG certainly doesnt help cause it actually encourages them to make the maps long and drawn out.

I think I'm probably done making sprites for it. Maybe death sprites for the 5 made characters, if it gets picked up by someone.
