Other than the Metroid trolling my biggest complaints are that Famicom Wars is useless outside of multiplayer, Maximum Carnage is kind of trash, and nobody should ever play console ports of Doom if they don't have to. Doom 64 is a unique experience and should be appreciated though.

Just go to GameFAQS, look at every developer/publisher you like/is notable/are curious about, and download every game that isn't an English-language RPG or strategy. Then go to Romhacking and download every Fully Translated translation for every game they have for every system you want games for and patch those. This will probably take you about 3 months to fully complete (you can always make a note games/companies to download for, so that you can take breaks and enjoy the games), but you will then have access to nearly every pre-32-bit game ever talked about here (including "hidden gems") and will be on your way to being very well-informed.
