A permanent cutoff might be retarded, but making an exception for the dreamcast is even dumber. The 1999 cutoff is totally arbitrary and the board will continue to stagnate and cloister itself further into serials and dated talking points if we don't unfuck the rules.

I've recently hacked Wii to be Gamecube player - I'm having loads of fun with it. It's so easy to hack it as well, compared to PS2 which takes lot more effort

I've had a hacked Wii hooked up on my entertainment center for nearly a decade. Used it far more than any other console in that time period. Purists will probably hate me for this but the N64 emulation via virtual console is pretty damn good and SNES/NES/Genesis emulation is perfect. Gamecube and Wii games obviously run flawlessly as well. Wii U would be superior if the Virtual Console didn't have so much damn input lag.

PS2 and Gamecube are kinda lost between /v/ and /vr/, and both consoles have loads of amazing games (PS2 was more on cinematic side if you ask me, and GC enabled 4player multiplayer out of the box), so it definetly healthy to speak about some of those positions
