Practice. Go to goodwill, buy a clock radio or something with a lot of caps and practice soldering and desoldering.

You can get a decent iron kid on amazon for $20.

the only fiddly part to install on a gba is an accelerator if you don't have a heat gun.
Even then, all it takes is an iota of brain to remove it if you go about it thoroughly. Add some new low temp soldern, flux, pry a spudger or an exacto knife underneath, then just dot the connections you want to remove, carefully.

As far as I can figure out, biversion increases contrast for two reasons.
-ghosting is at its strongest when the GB is displaying black images on a white background. By digitally flipping blacks to whites, ghosting is generally reduced. Ghosting is also obvious when you turn an unmodded screen's contrast up until pixels are very opaque. A biverted screen on the other hand is more clear when you turn the contrast wheel the other way towards transparency (with a flipped polzarizer, turning the contrast wheel towards transparency makes the display darker because the background is black).
-By flipping the back polarizer, the transparent (background) color flips from white to black. The black background draws a black border around every single pixel, which makes it easier to pick out individual pixels in sprites.

Japanese Gold/Silver ($2) and a frashable ram chip ($10)from JRodrigo for mbc3/rtc carts is the easiest.

A GB X7 is nice, but it is kind of a pain. Doesn’t copy saves to the microSD until you load up another rom, and it uses .srm instead of .sav which means you sometimes have to trim saves with a hex editor to flash them to a real cart.

If you mean the AGS-101 GBA mod, well, personally, I don't like the feel of the aluminum GBA shell. It's alright, but an OEM shell is significantly better feeling. The fitment on the GBA version seems a bit off too.

This is 100% salvageable. Use good solder wick with Flux in it or squirted on. As anon said, leaded solder only. Once you remove the old, actually bend the metal til it touches the pcb. Solder doesn't fill gaps, it only sticks already touching metal together through capillary action.

Also, don't be dumb and remember to practice declsoldering on junk electronics before you do it on the gb.

If you have a cheap iron, it's not getting hot enough. Buy more wattage.
