Does /vr/ have any tips/advice on how to get the best audio output out of my systems? I own a PSone, a Dreamcast, and a Saturn.

Make sure the emulator is going through your soundcard at its maximum supported bit rate and sample rate.

I feel like if you're not an audiophile then it probably doesn't matter, but if you are then you should already know how.

Sorry bud. I don't emulate.

What a useless post.

I was just giving my two cents, but if you're going to be like that maybe you don't deserve anyone's help. Use Google like everyone else.

If a headphone jack is available, try using it. If not, make sure your TV is set up for good output to something external.

Never heard of the Nyquist-Shannon sampling theorem?

I know MLiG is mostly about video quality but I remember Try mentioning that he got an optical audio jack modded into his SNES while it was being worked on for other stuff. so apparently that's something you can do for consoles.

Oh you’re one of those. Yes, higher sample rates actually do sound better. Ever heard of aliasing?

Clearly if I made the thread I'm seeking advice on how to improve my sound because I feel there is something better than AV composites.
>If you are then you should already know how.
Again, if I knew how I wouldn't of have made the thread.

From the breakout SCART cable I use adapter for L and R rca cables to stereo jack and it goes to small headphone amplifier. It sounds great.

All of those should break out to stereo RCA jacks with the right cables. PS1 I use the rear L/R outputs on my 1002. Dreamcast my VGA cable has stereo RCA jacks. For Saturn just the standard RCA cables are as good as it gets, but if you use SCART it should be fairly easy to grab the audio from the correct pins in this diagram. Either build your own lead, or you could probably buy one from China.

Route those to whatever you want. In my case, line level is good for my HD650s so I don't bother with an amp. You'll probably want a headphone amp with analogue input if you use lower impedance headphones.

Don't all those system have exactly the same "audio output"? That being a few wires. Digital might be "better" but it's not like there's any chance someone so inexperienced is going to manage that.

You (well, maybe not you) could probably pull i2s out of all those internally and convert to spdif easily. For ps1 games, you could just use ps2 hardware with stock toslink.
