There was one part of that map pack that wouldn't properly spawn the Translator so I was stuck there. Even if I used cheats, I still needed the translator to get past the other parts. Good map design though

Can't you summon the translator through the console? Should be something like summon unreali.translator

Also, I didn't even realize that Interloper is part two of the map pack - but oh well, I can just play part one later on. Overall I'm getting some nice Unreal feels from playing it, also liked the use of Half Life sounds and music.

>> No.5553493

The development of Unreal was troublesome while Epic were going at it and it was only with Digital Extremes that things managed to actually pick up. Look at how unfocused and different from the final product their initial ideas were:

https://unrealsp.fandom.com/wiki/Unreal_Bible

I think they were really always talented at the technical stuff, making engines etc, but they sold out the moment they saw the chance with Gears of War and turned their back to their older fans since then.

Probably either D3D9 or OpenGL, but it depends on your system. Try them out and see which one works best. I like the visuals from OpenGL better but ended up using D3D9 because it seems to crash less and is more friendly to alt-tabbing.

Hey! Since 2010, I've been hosting servers for Unreal Tournament, Unreal Tournament 2004, and Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy with the Jedi Outcast maps.

My User Name: InspecktahDeck - Steam Group Name: Speck's Unreal /V/idya. You don’t need the steam version to play, but having steam lets you receive announcements when we play. Announcements, schedules, essential files, group forums, our group discord, and extra stuff is listed all right on the front page!

Speck here, figured I'd ask a few questions because I'm re-organizing the essential and bonus file compilations I have so far for the servers.

One suggestion was to separate Unreal, UT99, and UT2004 into their own packs.

I have a few questions however -

In general -

I was considering adding Mac and Linux versions of the downloads. How often do players use those versions? I don't imagine very often, at least not anymore, however if there is a demand for it, I will include them.

For Unreal -

Aside from the official bonus packs, patches, and updated renderers/drivers, what should I include? Would the Anthology fixes be appreciated? I know some players still use that version of the game.

For Unreal Tournament -

Does anyone have non .UMOD versions of the first three bonus packs? I know most versions of the game come with those three pre-installed. I have a registry key fixer for Unreal Tournament for people who have trouble installing them but it doesn't seem to fix the issue for everyone.
How often do people play from the Anthology collection?

For Unreal Tournament 2004 -

I'll look for non .UMOD versions of the installations for these as well.

>>5565946

The other thing I'd like to as so we can compile it for players is a list of fixes for known issues on modern systems.

I know something that usually fixes stuttering, weapon animation errors, and the game running at high speeds is changing the renderer to a newer D3D or OpenGL renderer, but if there are any others with known fixes I'd like to add those too.

Thanks again to everyone for playing and helping out over the years!
