What's the word on these Retrobit Sega controllers? They're in stock again and I'm debating getting a couple Saturn controllers. I heard they changed the L and R microswitch but that's it. How's the dpad and everything else?

>> No.5526216

From what I've heard, pretty damn close to the real thing, especially on Genesis, if there are any negatives they're kind of forgiven because they're new controller and not some crusty one of eBay for that same price

And I mean they seem to be very minor nitpicky things, like slightly different plastic texture

I like that you can switch between dinput and xinput by holding down the start button. Now I can natively play Sonic Mania with a Sega controller

I got one of the clear Saturn controllers in the mail today from Amazon. It's been a long time since I've actually used a Saturn controller so my memory of them is fairly foggy, but it feels fantastic. D-pad and buttons feel very tactile, and I was having no problem doing specials in fighting games.
Only complaint is that the shoulders are rubber-domes instead of microswitches like the original, so they don't feel as tactile and are a bit stiff, as well as no select button considering their Genesis controller sort-of has one. Apart from that it's probably one of the best 6-button pads you can get.

Why do retards prefer Saturn controllers over PSX? Saturn's floaty disc D-pad is overrated and 4 face buttons + 4 shoulder buttons is superior to 6 face buttons + 2 shoulder buttons.

>>5527130
Personally I'm ok with the round D-pad (mainly for fighting games, where it's definitely more beneficial) but I'll agree that 4+4 is better than 6+2, at least for platformers, where it's always better to have your thumb rest on two buttons at the same time. 6 button layouts are pretty awkward with that because they're not perfectly diagonal, but tilted.

Indeed, Saturn had better ports of most shmups too. This may be off topic but does anyone have experience with the saturn sd card reader that replaces the cd drive? Looks expensive as fuck but if it works well I'll consider it a worthwhile investment.

Difference is with an arcade stick you are using your index fingers to touch multiple buttons, whereas with a Saturn pad you have to use your thumb for SIX face buttons. Full retard. PSX fixes this by moving some of the buttons to the top so your index fingers can do more work instead.

X-input works fine though and so does direct input on games that don't pull a controller config from steam.

if you have gamecube or wii classic controller lying around, and dont mind spend some extra, then I'd recommend raphnet's classic controller, or gamecube to N64 controller adapter. On both the analog stick sensitivity is perfect and you can remap buttons in any way, and save upto four button configurations.
Only downside is high cost(and even more for multiplayer), and that you need to own cube or classic controller.

I mainly use a scph-1200, an original dual shock, and it's still possible to get misinputs on the the d-pad
pressing down or up on the thicc edge of the side buttons can trigger diagonal inputs

was noticing this the other day playing a 2D platformer, perhaps I press too hard.. my controller usually has a layer of dead skin(?) caked on after 3+ hrs of play. D-pad, face buttons, and when I play pinball the shoulder buttons too.
