Is this a /vr/ game?

>> No.5524539

yes read the sticky.
>on platforms released in or before 1999
I heard that port is terrible though, unlike the thps 3 port which is a bit better

GTA III runs on a Pentium III/Voodoo 3 build. Is GTA III also a /vr/ game?

I've watched a lot of videos on it and it's just thps2/3 with the levels from 4. I didn't even know this thing existed until years ago, it looks awful in comparison to the actual 4.

It's fine. The THPS3 PS1 port is also fine but I never thought it was great and I don't really get the adoration for it in recent years while this one always gets derided as crap. It really isn't, it's a lot of fun if you like these games but I can think of one goal in particular in the game that is nearly broken in the Kona level. Otherwise I think it's a worthy title in the series.
In my opinion THPS4 on PS1 has the GOAT secret level in any of the THPS games. It's a little-skater-big-world kitchen level. It's a lot of fun. Also has the great soundtrack from the PS2 version and the versions of the scaled down PS1 levels are pretty interesting to see if you're really familiar with the PS2 version. Also crazy to see a THPS game on PS1 that didn't follow the rigid formula of the first 3. It's an interesting game in the series that's worth a look, especially if you really like THPS4.

I don't know and honestly I don't give a shit. The retro/non retro cutoff is stupid and so are the autists who defend it to the death.

The people who make the rules here never gamed on PCs in the 90s, so they hadn't thought about it.

I love that, every 2 weeks or so, new people come into /vr/ and complain about their own childhood not being considered retro and start making "troll" threads in an attempt to bash /vr/'s rules or whatever.
I remember one time there was a desperate guy who didn't know what else to do and he started spamming FIFA 2005 PS1 threads. People were just like "yeah sure, you can make a fifa 2005 thread... good luck getting people discussing it though" lol.

anyway, you can discuss GTA 3 I guess... but only if it's specifically the PC port running on an actual old machine. Let's see how many people are interested.

If you like that type of stuff, you might want to check out (non-retro) Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure, a game built off of THPS4's code. Two of the Toy Story levels, Andy's Room and Pizza Planet, are also like that. Be sure to turn on "Pro Controls" in the options so the controls follow the standard THPS scheme. Andy's Room is also available in the THUG Pro mod for THUG2.

Are any of the levels actually decent? I only played the Lion King level and it was pretty awful.

>> No.5524679

>>5524535
Yes, but people will focus the discussion on the ps2 version because they never played this one.

>> No.5524685

>>5524670
Andy's Room is easily the best of the bunch, and I don't remember disliking any of the levels besides Elephant Graveyard (the second Lion King level), just because it was a huge level and it was hard to figure out how to go from area to area at times.

Oh, and be sure to play as a human character (whether you create your own, or pick one of the Extreme Skate Crew (real kids who won contests to be in the game)) for your first playthrough, so you can go through all the levels, including the human exclusive Olliewood hub level, all in one go. From there you can play as the Disney characters, who are restricted to their own individual worlds, if you want to 100% the game.

I'd consider only GTA3 as a /vr/ game due to the fact it's the last game made by "DMA Designs" and also due to it being much closer thematically to GTA1/2/London than the later series.

It's not a terrible port. It's isn't Pro Skater 3 N64 bad. There's some exclusive content on it, but nothing amazing.

Can't wait for Diablo-2- and Deus-Ex-threads being deleted on sight from now on.
