What's the most powerful device that outputs analog video? Something that emulates well and if need be, run cfw for emulation.

Quadro P6000, I think.

Everything is analog. Digital is an abstraction. Unless you zoom in far enough, then things are quantized again.

Maybe your monitor's controller board? The bare panel has an analog ribbon connection the brains.

The most current PC with the most current card that can output component via an adapter. Are you wanting to play on an old cancer ray tube? The only analog video signal that adds any desirable distortion is composite video. It makes retro games look right. I go out of my way to simulate it when emulating.

I suspect current GPUs can with a passive adapter that gets an analog VGA signal through one of the DVI connectors, and a VGA-component adapter on the other end. I have the adapters, but no VGA cable here to test.

Component video is analog.
Rgb is also analog unless you're talking specifically digital rgb which is ega shit.

Geforce 980 was the last card with a DAC. Nothing newer will have dvi-a

I currently use an active HDMI to VGA converter along with a VGA to SCART cable. At 240p on a CRT TV shit looks fucking neato, and I'm using a cheap but not dated GPU (RX 570)

Pics or GTFO, all the converters I've seen have has issues with aspect ratios and picture quality.

Honestly best option if you’re willing to fork out the cash, hunt down an Extron emotia on ebay, output a 480p signal through vga and it will downscale it to 240p.

It was not. It was the Quadro GP100.
>but anon that costs $5000
It does now. But in a few years it won't, and then people will be buying them to use for gaming on analog displays.

However, the P6000 is still the most powerful GPU with an analog output.

I know OP didn't specifically ask for it but the Wii U doesn't support 240p

if you're emulating use a regular Wii or a PC if you can figure out all the adapters and stuff

You still need a GPU that has analog output though. Newer GPUs only support analog without a converter.

Hard to make a proper picture with my shitty phone, but basically it's limited to super resolutions (unlike using VGA or DVI-I directly on older GPUs), which is not perfect but very, very close. It looks exactly the same as plugging it in directly if using said resolutions.

I mean shit, I don't know how HDMI active adapters work. But for 10 bucks I wanted to try and turns out it works without problems. No longer do I need a different computer with an older GPU.

Also lemme make this clear: You can turn it into the most powerful thing, but it might not be convenient for you. One problem with CRT EmuDriver is that it does replace whatever other driver you use. So you're stuck with an older version of AMD graphics which might not work as well as the latest shit. So if you use that computer for more than this, you might feel it's a pain in the ass. I'm constantly switching drivers and it's not pleasant.

>> No.5514167

Yeah, stuff like this is known crap. That exact form factor even.

>> No.5514460

As long as you have a few GPIO pins it's really trivial to rig up a DAC and add analog video output to any microprocessor. They might not be the "most powerful" thing you can get, but a high end SBC should be able to handle just about any console for which an emulator exists.

Why should it be different between video and audio?
Audio has PCM samples, video has RGB or YCC samples.
And as an analog (heh) to digital screens, we have headphones with digital USB connections.
