Thinking of buying Virtua Fighter for my Sega Saturn.

Question is, original, or remix? I kinda like how shitty the polygonal characters are in the original version. But is that the only difference?

Just get VF2

If you're playing with your bros get the latest version you can find.
If you're trying to get into tourneyfaggotry take a plane and move to japan then kill yourself once you realized you've wasted your life over videogames.

If you're looking for the most single player unlockable content I'd recommend Fighters Megamix.

I wouldn't call it shitty. And I also dig that flat artstyle, go for the original.

The problem with original is that it's not really a good port, you're better off with the 32X version.

Get Remix. The Saturn version of the original game was completely fucked, which is what lead to Remix. If you want the original version go for the 32X port.

I like them both. VF1 has a lot of graphic glitches. But its still a charming game. It plays really fluidly. Even more so than VF2. Which is why you ignore >>5488027 and >>5488031.

Remix has been said to have improved controls. Also the poly count is a little higher.

I like them both, but somehow i lean towards VF1 because it feels closer to the 1993 model 1 VF.

>shitty the polygonal characters are in the original version
Believe it or not, those models have at least Dreamcast-tier polycounts. They're really ugly, but I love the style.
Grab the Virtua Fighter PC version of Remix, where you can switch between the blocky models and the remix models.

Sad that to this day we never had an arcade perfect port of the Model 1 game and it's not even properly emulated.

>>5488057
Meanwhile, Tobal models aren't ugly. Just blocky. They're actually beautiful.

>> No.5488212

I got Saturn VF1 for my birthday about a week ago. I like the flat artstyle, and the Saturn version is still very enjoyable. Remix looks soulless in comparison.

You could try the pc version and choose both looks. You'd probably need something to limit the framerate, however.

And they really are. I dont know if its because the modelers were genuinely talented people who could bring great effectiveness with little hardware; Or if the Toriyama artstyle goes really well with low polygon models.

The end result is, IMHO, way better than Tobal n. 2 and many other games who did gouraud shading at the time. They shoud have done more games the flat'n'blocky way.

Virtua Fighter Remix looks so soulless compared to the original version. The game just isn't supposed to look like that. VF2 on Saturn is so ugly. I wish it wasnt running in interlaced mode. VF1 even with the glitches is more pleasant for the eye than that. Fighters Megamix isnt even VF game. It's Fighting Vipers with VF characters. It's trash
