5471753 No.5471753 [Reply] [Original]

Hello, I had always been a nintendofag since my childhood, and thus I am not really knowledgeable about sega systems, but recently I have become interested in playing them.

With that being said can you recommend me some good games for the Genesis/MegaDrive? preferably not arcade downports

bonus points if you also tell me about good master system and game gear games

>> No.5471758

I really don't get why you would want to get into Sega systems if you're not interested in arcade ports.

It's so great. Gets tough at some points but never feels cheap to me and there are multiple routs through the pages and slight puzzles figuring out how to get through taking as little damage as possible. I'm not usually a fan ofbeat em ups, even Streets of Rage doesn't do that much for me but I love Comix Zone.

Imo golden axe 2 and 3 are underwhelming. Neither sequel holds a candle to the Revenge of Death Adler arcade cabinet. I still think golden axe 1 is the best golden axe on the genesis

I started typing out something along tge lines of "but who gets a console to only play the first party games?" But then realized looking at what tends to get talked about that it does happen in relation to Nintendo at least where even excellent games like Metal Warriors hardly get mentioned.

I would agree that sega tends to be more action/arcade focused across the board though.

>But MD GA2 is just a longer and more interesting GA1.
Outside of the afformentioned magic system fix they smoothed the combat a little but everything else was better(music, levels, and enemies) imo. Not enough was improved. Felt more like GA 1.5 than a true sequel. Still a gud game tho don't get me wrong.

>>5472787
It's hard to go back to the Genesis Golden Axes after playing RoDA. It's criminal it was never released outside of arcades. More of Sega's smart choices.

>> No.5474501

Gonna try putting some games here that no one else has said so far:

Alisia Dragoon
Valis 3 (the other two are shit but this one's pretty good if you can get it cheap)
Batman (Just called Batman, not to be confused with the other Batman games which are supposed to be shit)

Black Belt and the Sonic games on the Master System are pretty good too.

MSystem original Alex Kidd and Shinobi World. Also play the Master System versions of Castle of illusion and Lion King.

MD play some disney games like Aladdin, Quackshot, Mickey Mania, etc.
Some mentioned Rocket Knight Adventures, but also try the sequel called Sparkster. Isnt as good as the original game, but still alright.
Play the japanese versions of Dynamite Headdy and Castlevania because west got censored and in DHeaddy case is retardly harder like the western version of SoR3

Sad that no one mentions shadowrun for the genesis. Also with a model 1 genesis you can play master system games (with an add on) and that will give you an avenue for that system too! Also pirates! Gold is great for the genesis

Yeah I could see rushing through in about 30 mins. It will take you a good while to get to that point though. Fortunately the replay value between different routs and special attacks is pretty high, it doesn't feel like it needs a save or password stsyem at all.
