Though I don't disagree with the 2nd part of your statement, They still will be remembered. The "problem" with Xbox is that the highly sought after exclusives (muh halo) have been ported to newer systems, and have never really died. I own one, and haven't turned it on in months. It is too loud, but it was top tier in its day. I never owned a PS2, so I can't speak for it, but I didn't own it because there were no exclusives that I wanted. The DC on the other hand was real quality. Is there a better way to play MvC2 in 2019? I keep thinking about getting a supergun for the CPS2 systems, but don't want to waste money on something that has battery-suicided.

What do I use to replace the disc reader on my dreamcast? Sometimes it sputters and I have to give the disc a meaty spin up to get the game starting, so I'm thinking it's dead. Xbox wasn't generic, was a dedicated gaming machine and the most powerful console ever by that time. Also had thousands of games which being the first console by Microsoft, was a impressing achievement, especially if we take its short lifespan in account. Lot's of amazing exclusives and tons of japanese games. Definitely a classic gaming machine.

The only generic console of that gen would be the PS2, that albeist having lot's of great titles, was viewed more like a DVD player the also played videogames.
