GAUNTLET WIKI: http://vgauntlet.wikia.com/wiki//v/_Gauntlet_Wiki

Good evening, /vr/others! Welcome to the Retro Game Gauntlet!

Start at NES, and work through in the following order:

NES
SNES
GB/GBC OR Sega Game Gear
Megadrive/Genesis
Turbografx16
DOS
NeoGeo
GBA OR Sega Master System
Commodore 64 OR Commodore Amiga
Playstation 1 OR Nintendo 64

You have three days to complete the game without assistance (each game gets three days, though RPGs are allowed a week due to length).

Select your system here:
http://s3kr.it/gauntlet.html

You can also do it manually if you don't trust the random number generator:
http://s3kr.it/systems/

AND BRING ME SCREENSHOTS

I may not have liked Plok, but at least I can recognise that it was decently put together with some cool ideas.

Power Moves is just awful and derivative.

So I rolled and the title that was given is Ys III Wanderers of Ys. Seems like a decent game, but what is it with the difficulty setting? - Insane! Luckily I figured out a way to gain exp. points pretty easily in the first dungeon. All thanks to these re-spawning monsters.

So one week to conquer, probably won't take more than a couple of days though.

Special stage where you're supposed to punch bombs as they come flying towards you. Problem is that there isn't enough time to react before they hit the floor. If you're not in the right place for them, you'll miss for sure.

Like I've said, it's a pretty awful, poorly-put-together game with a lot of problems.

Chief among them is the move list. It's just idiotic what they gave some characters. Vagnad gets a two-hit punch attack as a special move, but the second hit takes so long to come out that the opponent has recovered from the first hit and can block the second. There's another character who can throw a pair of axes in a boomerang kind of way who has the same blockable second hit problem. And beyond that, pretty much everyone seems too slow to actually chain together any combos. You can hit someone once and that's it. They can block or reposition themselves right after.

Okay, time to roll up another game. I'll let the d4 decide if it should be Gameboy (1-2) or Game Gear (3-4), use the d14 (With the roll halved) for Gameboy's 100s and the d3 for Game Gear's 100s.

This gives me Game Gear 247.

From one shitty fighting game to the next. This has absolutely no complexity. Just button mash until your opponent's health is down, then move below him and press something to pin.

I picked a survivor series match, which is a 4v4 tag match. Just beat one guy, three more to go.

>>546642
Left is a d14, which is simply a d10 with more sides. The upper one is a d3, which has its numbers written on the thin edge and RPS on the wider faces for rock, paper, scissors.

Dum de dum, beat Dragon Warrior I, now I have to beat Dragon Warrior II.

I thought it was cute as hell when the hero carries the princess out of the cave. I was disappointed the "But thou must" line wasn't in this one. Oh well. Fun game. I regret not taking more screencaps of it.

I don't really understand the controls. It's supposed to be buttons 1 + 2 to pin the opponent, but most of the time my guy picks him up instead. Positioning seems to be the key here, but I just can't get it consistently.

Also, when the opponent decides it's time to tag, that's it. He's leaving the ring to recover, taking that health bar you spent five minutes mashing down with him.

It turns out that pressing 1 + 2 while the game is paused makes it reset, so I had to start over. This time with a one-on-one tournament, since that's probably the best thing to set as a completion goal.

Last match of the tournament. Every single one has played out the same; mash buttons until he falls down for long enough to pin.

I'm glad it's almost over.
