If you're unprepared like I was, this guy was a bitch to fight. I didn't have enough alchemy power or ingredients to kill him. Tried to buy more ingredients, but the only shop I recall at that point is hidden in the forest maze. And the game froze a couple times for me after finding it. I ended up leveling up my spear until I could charge and throw it.

>To defeat it Link had to throw Bombs into the opening in its head. Timed correctly, so that when it stops spinning its red face is showing, damage was caused to the creature. If a different color was showing when the spinning stopped, such as blue, green, or violet, it unleashed attacks such as falling rocks or fireballs.

I really do fucking hate this thing. The fact that you're just at the mercy of RNG for whether he comes down to where you can hit him, and when he's up high he just hits you with 100% unavoidable magic just makes that shit THE WORST. It's less of a test of skill and more of a test of your characters' number of levels and healing items.

Yeah I won't through blind. Took me several tries because he and the assasins kept nuking that worthless twin on the opening round. Luckily I was monk Ramza for the one on one fight in the cellar, so I just had to hit hard and heal harder alternatively. That still took a couple of tries too though.

Wario Land 3 had a lot of annoying bosses to deal with. The revenge of the bunny in the city stage where you play soccer with him instead of basketball is really tough to time right and that stupid ghost where you have to light the 4 torches as quickly as possible took me way too many retries. Doesn't help that you never actually die except with clown Rudy of course in the game and simply get sent back for a bit which makes it much more annoyingly cause you think "c'mon one more time! I'll get him now!". Still a great game though.

When I fought her, I was lvl 17, and had no magic rings. Everything was easy peasy until this boss then BAM, giant difficulty spike, and you only do 1 damage per hit if you are under-leveled.

Took over an hour and a half of jump-dash attacking constantly to beat her.

Except most people who've played it at any length will tell you it's not even a boss rush because you just spell spam and then chug walnuts after the fight and wash, rinse, repeat. You can try to fight things but invincibility is a huge problem in this game and it can be a bitch to try to hit something before it just socks you out of range or something.

SD3 wasn't really any better. It was the same game except you spend half the game waiting for some mediocre animation to stop.

This one is meant to be infuriating, you go out of your way to fight it and get no worthwhile reward.

My pick is button mashing bosses in Goemon 4 and Asterix and Obelix on SNES.

The key to SD3 is don't use magic, because unlike (most) SoM spells, the battle stops when you cast which slows things down tremendously.

Well, both are true. Either be level 25, or do as much damage as you would on level 5. Being 24 would possibly help, I don't remember if it makes a difference compared to e.g. 23.
But she is also the only boss where magic is useful (one particular spell, alway forget which). Problem is, upon reaching this point almost everybody has probably given up on using magic for combat, especially on bosses since you can't even use magic in every boss fight.
