I don't really mind because these games are fun but it sucks just how far behind laptops are. I can't even play Source engine games at 60 fps for example.
Anyway I've been playing the Star Control 2 remake recently. Good shit.

I know how it is. I want an Xbox One X to join my friends playing games or a Playstation 4 for the VR games but could not afford anything of the modern gaming. I am fortunate to have kept the stuff I did get from the clearance bins. Don't knock laptop stuff, as I recently got a dual-core machine that I am hoping to run some great old stuff. Star Control 2 was one of my most favorite games back then, and I hope Ur-Quan Masters will work. I also plan on installing Streets of Rage Remix and AM2R, any other free games I should be looking out for?

That is a bit much, practically halfway there to the Xbox One X and PS4Pro I want. I hope to set up the computer on the left, which I got for under $30, with a lot of emulators. What other fangames should I add to the following list that would run on it:

-Ur-Quan Masters
-Tyrian 2000
-Streets of Rage Remake
-AM2R
-Super Mario Flashback

Not op, but what do you mean by "saved"? From what I know, they just copy the shield and fuck off leaving you alone.

Anyway, The Ur Quan Masters has great atmosphere, however it kicked my ass pretty hard. I cannot git gud enough to win the tug of war without loses, stupid probes often murdered large parts of my fleet, and Ur Quan ships just straight fuck me in the ass without lube. Any tips?
Especially as most walkthroughs order you not to upgrade your flagship with guns.
Ive got best results with terran cruisers, however they are made of fucking glass and slow as fuck. Also Spathi ships are pretty good for kiting, but not something you can use against Ur Quan.

I never got far enough to get the Avatar ships. I actually lost too much time on mining and stoped playing knowing I will not be able to make it in time, also was not sure what I should actually do.

But from what I remember I didn't engage urquans(neither niggers nor green ones) until flagship was beefed as fuck,
Avatars are good and those utwig ships are basically fucking invincible, especially against nigger urquans, but you get both of those really late into the game. If you really want to slap urquan shit then maybe try recruiting the thraddash, their ships are OP too.
I guess terran cruisers work well too if you got nothing else, but thats always risky, you have to start far from the urquan ships or it will get to you and wreck you
