wouldn't this move have made (marginally) more sense in the battle beforehand, isn't the battle with Safer/Seraph/Zeraffu-Sephiroth meant to be taking place in the heavens and not a physical plane? how can a supernova reach you in heaven?

Funny thing, Supernova is a gravity attack, doing damage based on your current HP. At low health he follows this with Heartless Angel, meaning he uses two attacks in a row that cannot kill you. After this, he drops down from his higher position, and then uses Wall/Dispel before finally using Deen or shadow flare, which can do damage. This combined with his physical attack means there are only two points in his entire turn cycle where he can actually kill someone directly. Give everyone ribbons and the confuse effect of supernova is irrelevant, and Pale Horse and Break do nothing.

If you lose to Safer Sephiroth, you lost on purpose.

fought ozma last night with a lvl 55 party, took 2 tries. second i just had insane rng with him using curage then death on a party member. if you go into the fight properly, regardless of levels, you should be alright. the bosses in ff9 have such little HP that it's a cakewalk.

Those are still in FFX, and removing the ATB is the only good thing that game did.

There is no reason to hitch about super nova, torre only meant to see it once or twice at most. It serves its purpose that is too make the battle more memorable. It's the fucking final boss, why play it in a hurry?

It can't, which is why your party can survive the attack.
The damage you receive is not meant to be physical but psychological, it's the emotional trauma after seeing humanity being wiped out, quantified in RPG numbers.
